Mental Health Worker III or IV - Toppenish, WA
Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic
Behavioral Health Services
The person in this position will provide mental health as determined in the treatment or
care plan of the client. This person may provide counseling or therapy services either
independently or as part of a clinical team. Mental Health Worker III may participate in
the treatment or care plan for clients in outpatient services, placement services, or
Functional Family Therapy (FFT). Mental Health Worker IV may also be the specialized
treatment provider in a multiple provider plan. Assigned clients may be multi-service,
chronic clients in need of skills training or guidance, those with special issues such as
domestic violence, sexual assault and anger management, those in need of behavioral
rehabilitation in several life domains to function youth who have severe emotional,
behavioral and social needs, or those with personality disorders, developmental delays,
complex diagnosis and other cases requiring advanced skill level, including expertise in
evidence based practices. Binligual English/Spanish highly preferred.
For Mental Health Worker III:
QUALIFICATIONS:



Education: Master’s Degree in a relevant field required.
Experience: Minimum of practicum experience or two years post graduate
experience in the direct treatment of mentally ill persons. No post graduate
experience required if graduate degree is in Social Work.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Any one of the following licenses is
acceptable for this position: Licensed Social Worker Associate Advanced
(LSWAA), Licensed Social Worker Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC),
Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA), or Agency Affiliated
Counselor Registration within 60 days of hire; current Washington State driver’s
license and proof of automobile liability insurance coverage; and a current First
Aid/CPR card, or obtained within 45 days of hire. NOTE: FBI fingerprints required
if have lived in Washington State less than the last 3 consecutive years.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: In designated bi-lingual positions, must
demonstrate ability to translate at level 11 on the ALTA language proficiency test.
Knowledge of the State special education regulations; familiarity with the theories
of human growth: physical, emotional and cognitive developmental stages; ability
to utilize the DSM IV and multi-axial diagnostic process; ability to represent the
Agency in contact with both State and County agencies; knowledge of Federal,
State and County social services regulations and systems; knowledge of State
mental health and special education requirements; familiarity with the
psychological principals in learning and their application to treatment stages;
familiarity with advanced evaluative techniques of personality, academic
behavior, and cognitive domains; and the ability to synthesize and formulate the
assessment data into a comprehensive treatment summary. If working with FFT
specific training in the principles of FFT.
For Mental Health Worker IV:
QUALIFICATIONS:




Education: Master’s Degree in a relevant field required.
Experience: two years supervised experience in the direct treatment of mentally
ill persons.
Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Any one of the following licenses is
acceptable for this position: Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC),
Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) or Licensed Advanced
Social Worker (LASW). Current Washington State driver’s license and proof of
automobile liability insurance coverage; and a current CPR/First Aid card, or
obtained within 45 days of hire. NOTE: FBI fingerprints required if have lived in
Washington State less than the last 3 consecutive years.
