Fundraising Pack

Raising funds is often very rewarding and once you get started, I think you will be surprised how easy it is. The important thing is to use your existing networks and interests and have fun raising the money!

If you are participating in a running, cycling or swimming challenge, by being creative and planning ahead, the fundraising can be as rewarding and enjoyable as the event itself, as many past fundraisers have found.

Fundraising does require planning and we do appreciate your time and effort.

We know that often the most difficult part is just getting started, so we've compiled a fundraising guide to help you.

We can help you get more support by writing a media release to forward to your local paper.

Read on for lots of practical tips on how to achieve your target and an A to Z list of fundraising ideas. We have included helpful ideas from past participants but you are only limited by your imagination!

Getting started

 There’s no need to do any extra hard work, you can always plan your fundraiser around an existing community event and get your friends to sponsor you; run in the City2Surf,

Brisbane Twilight Running Festival, Rip to River. Or take advantage of a work Christmas party or your own Birthday party to raise money for the Kids Cancer Project.

Set up your own Everyday Hero fundraising page at www.everydayhero.com.au. You can build your page in minutes, with plenty of online support and instructions. You can keep track of your progress as your friends and family donate money to your event and leave messages of support. This is also a really easy way to fundraise because once you have built your page you can email it around to everyone you know.

Post your fundraiser on your Facebook and Twitter accounts with information on how to support you. Word about your fundraiser will spread very quickly!

Will your company make a donation? Will they match the money that you raise? Will they let you contact clients and suppliers to ask for donations?

What do you do in your spare time? Do you have children, or do your friends have children?

Do you have a local pub? Are you a member of any clubs or gyms? Get them all involved in fundraising with you.

If friends and family can't give money, will they organise a small event for you such as a garage sale, cake bake or chocolate sales at work or a pub trivia night?

Organise events that give people something in return for their money - a raffle, a morning tea, a wine tasting evening, or an auction.

Included in this pack is a Fundraising Agreement, an A-Z of Fundraising Ideas, DIY media kit and Fundraising and Sponsorship Forms.
