Keen King Edward’s Electronic Newsletter April 2013 Welcome to Issue 4, 2012-2013 The spring term was as busy as ever for all our students but there was also a plethora of exciting and informative activities taking place. Numerous Higher Education events were positively received, a successful French exchange programme took place, there were numerous entertaining evenings celebrating the talents of students across the performing arts subjects, we celebrated national sporting success, young champions were acknowledged and the humorous antics of staff and students raised a commendable amount for comic relief. You also may have noticed our new mathematics block taking shape and building work is set for completion in the summer. October 2010 7th On March all the students who sat January examinations received their modular results. Many students achieved high grades which may be an indicator of student success in the summer examinations. All students have been advised to discuss their results with their Subject Tutors and Personal Tutor. Any student who has requested a re-sit is advised to attend all relevant workshops that their subject staff provide, which usually occur during lunchtime. On 6th March, the college hosted another very successful careers convention. Year 12 students and their parents were able to talk to professionals from over 30 businesses, each representing their own occupations, to provide an insight into specific careers. On 20th March the college hosted the annual Higher Education conference providing an opportunity for year 12 students to meet and discuss degree courses with over 50 lecturers from more than 20 leading universities. This allowed them to gain further information regarding specific courses and any academic requirements they may need to pursue their desired career. April Key Dates In addition on the evening of 20th March we hosted a Higher Education Forum for year 12 parents wishing to discover more about potential career paths beyond further education. If you missed this event or were unable to get a ticket, Aston University are also holding a Parents’ Higher Education Advice Evening on Wednesday 12th June. Follow this link for more details.
