Teacher Profiles
Mrs. Susan Fox has a bachelor’s degree in sociology and psychology from Hood
College and a Juris Doctor from Florida State University. She is a career
switcher; having had a family, criminal and juvenile defense law practice in
Connecticut prior to moving to northern Virginia with her husband and four
children. She has lived all over the United States with her husband, a former
USN fighter pilot; and loves Virginia best of all. She is excited to be in the 6 th
grade this year at Harmony.
This is Mrs. Kristen Hepner’s tenth year teaching in Loudoun County. She holds
a bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in teaching from the
University of Virginia. She was inspired to teach by her parents, who were both
educators. Mrs. Hepner is the proud mother of Jack and Claire. She enjoys UVA
football and tailgates, running around outside with the kids, and being captivated
by a good book.
Mrs. Catherine Hylton has been teaching for twenty-three years. She taught in
San Antonio, Texas from 1990-1998 and Rockbridge County, Virginia from 1998-
2000. This is her twelfth year in Loudoun County. She received her Bachelor’s
degree in Psychology from Elon University and her Master’s degree in Special
Education from Texas State University. Mrs. Hylton, a devoted Baltimore Ravens
fan, lives with her husband, daughters, and chocolate lab. She is looking forward
to a great year teaching sixth grade.
Mr. Jeff Jacobson received his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Salisbury
State University and his Master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction from Virginia
Tech. He is proud to have spent his current 19-year teaching career with
Loudoun County Public Schools. Mr. Jacobson, another Baltimore Ravens fan,
lives with his wife and daughter on their Christmas tree farm in Berryville.

Team Policies
Homework – Homework is expected on the assigned due date. If work is late,
points will be deducted as determined by the subject area teacher.
Absences – If you are absent, you are expected to check with your teacher for
assignments the next day (NOT the next time you return to class!). If absent on
the due date of an assignment that was given in advance, it will be expected on
the day you return to school. Remember to check with your teachers or on the
teachers’ websites for any missed assignments. According to LCPS policy,
students have one day for each day missed to make up assignments.
Agendas – Student agendas are required for ALL classes. They are used for
homework, upcoming events, and are the ticket to exit the classroom for the
nurse, library, and restroom facilities. There is a fee to replace them; so hold
onto them!
Teacher Availability
Aside from your resource period, Team Hercules teachers are available by
appointment before or after school should you need assistance. If you are
planning to stay or arrive early, please notify your teacher ahead of time. If you
will be staying after school, you must have a signed note from home indicating
“parent pickup”. If you are arriving early, you must obtain a hall pass from your
teacher the day prior to your session.
The Hercules Team Teachers can be reached through the Harmony website at
http://www.loudoun.k12.va.us/schools/harmony . Each teacher maintains a
calendar of assignments on his/her website for students and parents to check in
order to stay up to date on assignments. Please feel free to contact us by phone
(540-751-2500), email, or through Ms. Jamie Sharp, the 6th grade counselor.
