授業の目標 Course Objectives
This course outlines the groundwater flow, transport phenomena of water and solutes and the related chemical and biological reactions in the
subsurface environment for remediation. The course is composed of two parts. The first is the physical phenomena of groundwater flow and
solute migration. The second is the groundwater chemistry and related geochemical reactions. This study helps students to understand the
phenomena in the subsurface environment, giving rise to the solutions of soil and groundwater pollution by hazardous materials.
到達目標 Course Goals
Appropriate remediation methods for contaminated soils and groundwater can be proposed based on the hydrogeological and geochemical data
of the site, and the knowledge of fundamental phenomena of groundwater flow and solute transport.
授業計画 Course Schedule
(1) Introduction
Fundamental aspects of groundwater, soil, and rock
(2) Principle of groundwater flow
Hydraulic conductivity and storativity of aquifer, and groundwater flow
(3) Solute transport
Advection and dispersion of solute, and distribution coefficients
(4) Groundwater chemistry
Major, minor and trace elements, organic matter and isotopes
(5) Geochemical reactions
Physical, chemical and biological processes in the subsurface environment
(6) Remediation of contaminated soils and groundwater
Remediation methods based on the properties of soils and groundwater
