NPS/PICTON M&M NOVICE RIDDEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Stallions, mares and geldings four years old and over,
registered in the main body of the Shetland Stud Book Society. A pony is not eligible to compete if, before January 1st of the current year,
it has done any of the following;
i) Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class
ii) Won a Ridden class at an Olympia, Horse of the Year Show or RIHS qualifying round
iii) Qualified for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS Ridden classes
iv) Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show (N.B. Ponies can compete
as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year)
v) Qualified for the M&M Ridden Championship final at Olympia in previous years
vi) If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS in its second year it is immediately de noviced and cannot compete in the
Picton Final.
vii) Rider any age except stallions (see rules in section A3.2) The owner does not have to be an NPS member for the pony to enter this
competition but only ponies owned by NPS Qualifying or Full members can qualify for the final. The highest placed pony, owned by an
NPS Qualifying or Full member, in each class goes forward to the final. Where this pony has already qualified the pony standing next in
line, which is owned by an NPS Qualifying or Full member and has not already qualified, receives the qualification. Qualification may go
no lower than third place. Ponies must be shown in a snaffle bit.
NPS SILVER MEDAL ROSETTE CHAMPIONSHIPS Judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded
when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Full member of the NPS. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, the
rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal
Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a Qualifying or Full member of
the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and Qualification card can be awarded no lower than First Reserve (third).
Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship at the 2013 NPS Summer Championships
NPS RULE A 3.2 Rider’s and Handler’s Age:
In classes run under NPS Rules the ages of riders and handlers are all taken as at 1 st January of the current year. All riders must be 3 years
old or over on 1st January of the current year. In Mountain and Moorland classes riders of stallions must be 12 years old or over when riding
a Shetland. Handlers of stallions or colts must be 14 years old or over. Where there are no specific rules relating to the rider in the Rules
Book (either in this section or in the rules for the particular competition) the judge can take into account the suitability of the rider for the size
of the pony.

Ring Two Miniature Ponies 34” & Under
The NPS M&M Home Produced In Hand National Championship Stallions, mares and geldings any age, registered in the
main body of their respective Breed Society stud book. Ponies which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1st January
in the current year have not been shown by a producer or stabled in a producer’s yard other than on a DIY basis or at stud. Ponies shown in
these classes must be produced and shown by the owner/spouse or his/her Immediate Family. Please see the definition of Home Produced in
section A 3.6. Please enter this class in the spirit it is intended. Competitors who contravene the above will be disqualified.
Handler any age except stallions (see rules in section A 3.2). The pony to be owned and produced by the handler (see definition in
above).The owner does not have to be an NPS member for the pony to enter this competition but only ponies owned by NPS Qualifying or
Full members can qualify for the final. The highest placed pony, owned by an NPS qualifying or full member, in each class goes forward to

Rein classes or qualified for the NPS M&M Leading Rein final before 1 st January in the current year. Rider under 9 years (see rules in
section A 3.2). The owner does not have to be an NPS member for the pony to enter this competition but only ponies owned by NPS
Qualifying or Full members can qualify for the final. The highest placed pony, owned by an NPS Qualifying or Full member, in each class
goes forward to the final. Where this pony has already qualified the pony standing next in line, which is owned by an NPS Qualifying or Full
member and has not already qualified, receives the qualification. Qualification may go no lower than third place. Ponies will not be stripped.

for the final. The highest placed pony, owned by an NPS Qualifying or Full member, goes forward to the final. Where this pony has

receives the qualification. Qualification may go no lower than third place. (NB. At the final there will be two sections – Welsh and Non

over, registered in the main body of their respective Breed Society stud book. Rider Under 14 years (see rules in section A 3.2) The owner
does not have to be an NPS member for the pony to enter this competition but only ponies owned by NPS Qualifying or Full members can
qualify for the final. The highest placed pony, owned by an NPS Qualifying or Full member, in each class goes forward to the final. Where
this pony has already qualified the pony standing next in line, which is owned by an NPS Qualifying or Full member and has not already
qualified, receives the qualification. Qualification may go no lower than third place.
THE NPS/Leyhills M&M In Hand Winter Championships In each class the three highest placed ponies which have not already
qualified within the first six places will qualify for the final at the NPS Spring Festival 2013. To enter the final owners must be a NPS
Qualifying or Full member.

Competitors Numbers - Please collect from the Secretaries office on the morning of the show.
Stabling: £16.00 Per Stable per night. (Shavings Only). Bales of shavings and haylage are
available to buy on the showground. Please state the number of bales/bags you require on the
entry form. Please pay the Stable Manager for shavings & haylage on arrival.
Electric Hook up per 24hrs: £16.00 pre-paid. Please include on your entry form.
Vet on Emergency Call: Usk Veterinary Centre Telephone: 01291 672637 (please allow for a
minimum of 1/2 hour journey time from the vet centre to the showground).
Photographer: The Showground Photographer will be in attendance on the day. Photographs can

ROYAL LONDON SHOW 2013 First, second and third placed ponies in eligible classes will qualify for the
Champion of Britain Title classes to be held at the Royal London Show in 2013. Each qualified pony will receive
a qualification card in the ring which will enable the owner to enter the Royal London Show, provided the owner
and rider/handler are, or become registered with the International Showing Society within 28 days of the

EQUIFEST 2013 This show is affiliated to EQUIFEST taking place at The East of England Showground on the
14th - 18th August 2013. The TWO highest exhibits not already qualified in each class will qualify.
SOUTH WEST PONY ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS QUALIFYING RULES
This show is a qualifier for the South West Pony Association Championships to be held on 6/7/8 Sept. 2013
at The David Broome Event Centre, Crick, Gwent. To qualify for the Championships:
1. Enter one of the qualifying classes.
2. Be one of the two highest placed exhibits not already qualified within the first four and receive a
qualification card signed in the ring.
3. Complete the entry form on the qualification card.
4. Return the card to together with any registration fees due within 14 days of this show.
Registration fee for 2013 is £25.00

From M4 London:
Off at J21 sign posted "M48 Chepstow / Services" - this will take you over the old Severn Bridge. Turn off at J2 (A466) and take
roundabout exit to Chepstow (Welcome to Wales). At next roundabout take left turn sign posted"A48 Caerwent" continue for
approximately 3 miles to next roundabout then turn left. Approximately 2 miles later take the first right hand turn. The Lorry
park / Stable area is the first large gate on your left. The other entrances can be found several hundred meters further down the
same road.
From M4 Swansea & West:
Off at J24 to meet "Coldra Roundabout”. Take the Langstone turn off and follow signs towards Chepstow for approximately 10
miles. Turn right opposite the 4x4 garage (just before foot bridge), as the dual carriageway ends (there is a right hand lane). The
various entrances are about 1 mile up that road on the right hand side. Lorry Park is theast turning on the right.

General Rules & Conditions
IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED ALL PONIES HAVE ADEQUATE PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE COVER.
1. All ponies must be registered with the Shetland Pony Stud Book Society, or the main body of a Daughter
Stud Book of their country of residence. All ponies must have a valid passport accompanying them to the show.

be deemed a condition of entry that each entrant shall indemnify the organisers against any legal action or
claim arising from an accident in connection with this show.
3. The Judges decision is FINAL in ALL cases. The Show Committee reserve the right to change the Judge
if necessary.
4. In the event of the show being cancelled 50% of all fees and monies paid will be retained.

CLASS 46. THE NPS/ PICTON M&M NOVICE RIDDEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Stallion, Mare or Gelding. Ponies 4 years old & over. Riders any age except Stallions (see NPS rules)
CLASS 47. THE NPS /KINGS HEAD M&M NOVICE LEADING REIN NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP. Mare or Gelding Ponies 4 years old & over Riders under 9 years of age.
CLASS 48. THE NPS M&M NOVICE FIRST RIDDEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Mare or Gelding. Ponies 4 years old & over. Riders under 12 years of age.
CLASS 49. THE NPS/ RINGSIDE STUD M&M OPEN RIDDEN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Stallion, Mare or Gelding Ponies 4 years old & over. Riders any age except Stallions (see NPS rules).
CLASS 50. THE NPS/MICOR DEMOLITION LTD LEADING REIN NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP. Mare or Gelding Ponies 4 years old & over Riders under 9 years of age.
6. Ponies may be measured at the discretion of the judges.
7. Brown ponies are considered as black and must be shown in black in hand classes.
CLASS 51. THE NPS/MICOR DEMOLITION LTD FIRST RIDDEN NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP. Mare or Gelding Ponies four years old & over Riders under 12 years of age.
8. Three year old fillies with a foal at foot may not be shown.
9. Foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on the day of the show.
10. Hard hats to current British Kite Mark Standards must be worn when mounted and in child handler classes.
11. All riders ages are as of January 1st. 2013.
12. No spurs are allowed in ridden classes. Whips not to exceed 30”.
13. The Show Committee reserve the right to amalgamate or split classes at their discretion.
14. Any objection must be submitted in writing to the Secretary within 15 minutes of the alleged
incident, accompanied by a deposit of £25.00 returnable if the objection is upheld.
15. All dogs MUST be kept on a lead at ALL times and this includes the stable area, horse walks, showground
and lorry park.
16. Generators must be turned off by 11.30pm, thank you.
17. Any Veterinary call out fees and resulting treatment costs are payable by the Owner/ Exhibitor at the time
of the Vet attending the pony. Please allow at least half an hour for the vet to arrive.
18. Please do not drop litter, if you do see any, please pick it up. The show committee appreciates your help.

CLASS 52. THE NPS/RHR DEMOLITION LTD M&M JUNIOR RIDDEN NATIONAL
CHAMPIONSHIP. Mare or Gelding Ponies four years old & over Riders under 14 years of age.

NPS/THE MINNS M&M RIDDEN SILVER MEDAL ROSETTE CHAMPIONSHIP
A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony owned by an NPS
Qualifying or Full member in the ridden section. 1st & 2nd in classes 46, 49 & 52 to compete.
This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK). Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of
CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show will be held
from August 29th – August 31st 2013. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The following classes are
CHAPS (UK) Qualifiers, classes 53—56. For full rulings and information on competition/qualification, please refer to the CHAPS (UK)
Members’ Handbook; or visit www.chapsuk.com.
All stallions entering these classes must be graded or valid First Stage Approved with CHAPS (UK) & wear Stallion ID Discs in the
ring.

CLASS 57. NPS HOME PRODUCED IN HAND STALLION, MARE or GELDING
Ponies four years old & over Judged under NPS rules pages (9 &10).
CLASS 58. NPS/LEYHILLS M&M IN HAND WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP Yearling, two or three
year old ponies. Foals are not eligible. Handlers any age except stallion (see NPS rules pages 9 & 10).
CLASS 59. NPS/LEYHILLS M&M IN HAND WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP
Ponies four years and over Handlers any age except stallions (see NPS rules pages 9&10).
The owner does not have to be a NPS member for the pony to enter this competition (Leyhills), or qualify
but must be a FULL or LIFE member of the NPS to enter the final.

During my time with these wonderful ponies and as a newcomer to showing, I needed to know
