Dear Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in our Ed.S. in School Psychology Respecialization Program. This allows applicants
who have already completed a master’s degree in a related field to achieve an Educational Specialist degree in
school psychology through a two-year asynchronous, primarily virtual program. We are pleased to offer this
highly desirable program at Eastern Washington University to support the growing need for school
psychologists in the northwest region and nationwide. Enclosed with this letter are materials you will need to
submit in support of your application. To make the application process efficient and expedient, a checklist is
provided below for your use as you gather your application materials. Completed applications must be
submitted by March 1st in order to be considered by our application review committee. Note that there are two
parts to the application:
(1) Materials sent to the Graduate Studies Office; and
(2) Materials sent to the Director of the Ed.S. in School Psychology Respecialization Program.

The Graduate Studies application document is attached for your reference. You will need to apply to Graduate
Studies online, and then send required documents to the Graduate Studies Office, 206 Showalter Hall, Eastern
Washington University, Cheney, WA 99004. Do not submit this material to the department.

General Overview of Course of Study: The Eastern Washington University’s Ed.S. in School Psychology
Respecialization Program utilizes a distance-education model that provides individuals with graduate degrees in
counseling, clinical psychology, educational programs, and related fields the opportunity to earn an Educational
Specialist degree in school psychology and seek certification as a school psychologist. Courses must be taken in
the sequence stated on the candidate’s agreed upon sequence of study and are offered as follows:
Full-time, Two-year Option:
Summer I: Introduction to the field courses
Academic Year I: majority of assessment/intervention/and foundational courses and yearlong practicum
involving 1-1½ days per week in a school site
Summer II: Focused content courses
Academic Year II: 1200 hour, full-time internship
Part-time, Three-year Option:
Summer I: Introduction to the field courses
Academic Year I: assessment/intervention courses and yearlong practicum involving 1-1½ days per week
in a school site
Summer II: Focused content courses in research/human development/intervention
Academic Year II: Foundational courses, mental health strand, consultation course
Summer III: Remaining content courses in research/human development
Academic Year III: 1200 hour, full-time internship
Both the two and three-year option require that students complete the same number of courses and credits.

program interview but must be purchased and demonstrated working by the start date):
