Accumulate a minimum of 20 points per semester by attending Events on Calendar, Community Meetings, and through Personal Humanities Involvement. Create and maintain an Honors & Scholars ePortfolio. Obtain an overall GPA of 3.0 by end of the first year. Maintain communication by reading weekly update emails. Second Year Expectations 1. 2. Events on Calendar, Community Meetings, and Personal Involvement 1st Year Seminar Class, or 2nd Year Project Complete the Second Year Project by the end of spring semester. Accumulate a minimum of 15 points per semester by attending Events on Calendar, Community Meetings, and through Personal Involvement. 3. Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0. 4. Maintain communication by reading weekly update emails. 5. *STEP students will receive participation points for attending STEP Professional Development Events. All other expectations remain the same for STEP students Students who successfully meet expectations through the second year will receive a Scholars transcript designation. Second Year Project The project will allow Humanities Scholars to explore the Humanities based on personal interests and will create a resume worthy learning experience. Projects can be completed individually or in a group. All group members must submit a Project Summary. Students will discuss the project during the second year retreat during fall semester. Sample project ideas will be provided. Students and/or groups will meet individually with the Program Manager during fall semester to finalize a project proposal. Final Project Summary Sheets will be completed during spring semester. *STEP Student Project proposals can be the same STEP proposal, but must not be required through a class, student major or minor, or another academic requirement. Third/Fourth Year Expectations 1. 2. 3. 4. Attend Community Meetings and Community Events as often as you would like – there is no minimum attendance expectation. Participation can include: Events on the Calendar, 3rd/4th year only programming (1 per semester), serve as a Mentor or on the Leadership Council, or serve in another leadership role. Maintain an overall GPA of 3.0. Maintain communication by reading weekly update emails. Students who remain active will be recognized for their participation upon graduation from the university. What are points? Each event on the Humanities Scholars Calendar will be assigned a point value based on the time commitment and level of importance. Students will accumulate points throughout the semester and should meet the minimum point expectation based on their year in the program. How will I know how many points something is worth? A point value will be assigned to each program or activity on the Humanities Scholars Calendar. Events not on the Humanities Scholars Calendar will default to 1 point, providing the event has a Humanities, Service, or Community Building focus. How will I track my points? Attendance will be taken at most events and points will be added to everyone in attendance. When attendance is not taken, students should record their involvement through the online Points Report. How do I record my participation through the online Points Report? An online Points Report will be available for each semester. Students can record involvement at any time during the semester, however all participation must be recorded by the end of finals week. What are some examples of event point values? 1 point: Humanities Community Meetings held on the first Wednesday of every month. 2 points: Humanities themed events planned for Humanities Scholars (Dinner & Dialogue, Doc & Talk, Cultural Festival, etc.). 2 points: Social and Service events planned for Humanities Scholars (Retreat, Mentor Program events, Mid-Ohio Foodbank, etc.). 2 points: STEP student Professional Development Series events, Financial Literacy Requirement. 3 points: Weekend trips, Book Club. 5 points: Serving as a Mentor (autumn semester only), Serving on the Leadership Council
