Health and Biomedical Sciences Summer Camp-If your interests are in the health and
biomedical sciences field, there is a summer camp for high school students:
“Through lectures and hands-on laboratory investigations in state-of-the-art laboratories,
students will be introduced to the fundamentals of molecular biology, pharmacology,
immunology, biochemistry and medical ethics. Students will learn how laboratory science can
be translated into improved human health, and they will engage in investigative experiences
that will allow them to apply their laboratory skills to real life problems. In addition, students
will interact with practicing professionals in fields such as medicine, physical therapy,
toxicology, genetic counseling and biomedical laboratory research”. Please visit their
website for further information: http://www.lvc.edu/health-bio-summer-camp/.
The Shelton Challenge- a one-week summer adventure for high school students; freshmen,

The North Carolina General Assembly’s House Page Program is now accepting applications.
This program offers young men and women the opportunity to learn about and participate in
the legislative process of our state. It is a 4 day long experience that allows high school
students between the ages of 15 and 18 (or 14 if already in the 9th grade), to observe
firsthand how our laws are made. It provides them the unique privilege of working on the
House Chamber floor in the midst of legislative action. For more information, please visit
http://www.ncleg.net/house/housepagesite/.
ATTENTION SENIORS--Please take pictures of you and your friends together at school events
throughout the school year. Please email them to sstate@wsfcs.k12.nc.us so we can display
them at the prom.
