Winfield Minor Hockey Association Meeting – November 18, 2014 Winfield Hall – Multipurpose Room In Attendance: Tawnya Dooper, Woody Johnson, Trudy Murray, Ken Hutchinson, Trish Kramer, Twyla Ricard, Heather Matthews, Doug Hogg, Chad Kellgren Meeting called to order at 6:37 p.m. Minutes from last monthly meeting previously reviewed. Tawnya accepts minutes as reviewed. Trish seconded. Old Business Raffle – tickets should be printed within the next two days and available for distribution on weekend. **Tawnya will pick up spa package. Referee Clinic Update – clinic went well with 20 participants. 5 more registered but did not attend. - see submitted overview of participants and expenses. - in future will need to be more definitive of what costs WMHA covers as there are multiple components including online portion, clinic fee, Hockey Alberta fee and instuctor’s fees. Mascot – will not be available for PeeWee tournament however, should be here for atom tournament at beginning of December. Tournaments – heart and hustle and MVP toques have been ordered for all tournaments. There are enough medals for atom and novice tournaments but will need to order for initiation tournament. PeeWee – due to a lack of teams, tournament was cancelled. - have scheduled a fun day between Calgary (Simons Valley), Devon and Winfield with round robin games and skills competition on November 29. Will also include a small raffle table and puck toss. - Tawnya motioned to reimburse both teams $750 tournament costs. Heather seconded. All in favor. Motion carried. - Twyla is having plaques on 7 trophies left over from previous tournaments engraved to be awarded at skills competition challenges. - Doug willing to sponsor T-shirts for WMHA players. **Twyla will get a quote and finalize with Doug Atom – scheduled for Dec 6/7 with 6 teams. Novice – no new information available. Initiation – scheduled a two day tournament March 21/22, 2015 with 7 teams Memorial Jersey – Black Gold Framing is working on jersey framing and should be completed within 1-2 weeks. - write-up and collage of pictures will be placed in the show case. **Woody will discuss with the family. - will have a ceremony at the year end party. New Business Signboard Review – Thadee Holdings and Rose Country Insulation need to be turned. - Paint Druid did not pay last year so a bill was sent to them for this year and last year. - Chad motioned to not charge Adrenaline Industries for last year due to the late posting of the sign. Tawnya seconded. All in favor. Motion carried. GIC Renewal – currently have $15, 474 available in a GIC. - Twyla motioned to roll over GIC for another year. Ken seconded. All in favor. Motion carried. Casino – scheduled for April 15/16, 2015 from 330-1230. - will need 5 volunteers for each day. - worker applications are due 60 days prior (January 31). **Heather will post on the website and send an email to all families. Wind-up Date – scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2015 President’s Report – Jerry not able to attend but submitted report to Ken. - County requests that we call Larry for access to arena not Joyce. - suggestion to try Tim Stewart for a defensive skills/shooting clinic for Mondays in the month of January. Suggestion that Tim could possibly attend a midget practice to run some drills. ** Jerry will discuss with Tim. - Powerskating will be finished on December 22. - A parent is willing to sponsor an ATC Goalie Clinic. Clinic would be 90 minutes and room for 10-12 goalies to participate. WMHA would support this. **Jerry will confirm with parent. Vice President’s Report – nothing further to report Registrar’s Report – Initiation has been divided into 2 teams. Team 1 is comprised of 13 players with head coach Jon Drebert. Team 2 has 12 players with head coach Jerry Drebert - Novice, atom, peewee and midget teams have all been approved. - Atom and midgets are registered for provincials. - All affiliations have been approved. Treasurer’s Report – see submitted report. Twyla accepts report as read. Ken seconded. - Dodge Caravan Kids picture and application was emailed. - Managers need to submit receipt for away tournaments. - VIP Foods fundraiser had a profit of $1615.00 - 2 players still have outstanding fees. Managers are aware and will discuss with parents. - still awaiting payment of ice resurfacer. Payment of this was outlined in letter sent to all tax payers in county. Additional Discussion – suggestion to try and have one older ref and one younger ref. Meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Next Meeting schedule for December 16, 2014 at 6:30 p.m.
