Applications are available at Admissions and New Student Services (Lommasson Center-101), the Source in the UC, and our website www.life.umt.edu/umadv until the deadline on Friday, October 3rd @ 5pm. Applicants will register for their presentation time when turning in their completed application at Admissions and New Student Services, Lommasson Center-101. The applications will be reviewed by current Advocates the week of October 13th. The presentation/group process will take place on October 14th or 15th. Potential Advocates will report to Room 225. Each individual’s time will be divided into two segments. One segment will consist of a two-part presentation, judged by current Advocates. The first part is a prepared presentation on you as an individual, and who you are. This is left up to artistic license (i.e. creative poem-like, or simple speech-like, props/visuals are allowed). The second part of the first segment is an impromptu presentation for which you will have several minutes to prepare. The second segment will consist of a group process evaluation. *The presentation/group process event is professional in nature, so please dress appropriately. Appointments for final interviews will be scheduled during Presentation/Group Process nights. The interviews will be held during the week of the presentations (with exceptions made for those with conflicts). These interviews will give the Advocate Coordinators as well as the Advocate advisors an opportunity to meet the candidates and ask general and situational questions. Again, please dress appropriately. All applicants will be notified by mail by October 24th as to the final decision. An Induction Reception for the New Advocates will be held in the Dell Brown Room of Turner Hall on Tuesday, November 11th at 6pm. The mandatory two-credit segmented course, entitled “Leadership Training” will be from 4-6pm one day a week, which will be determined before the end of Fall semester. The class will run during the Spring semester. Class for new Advocates begins the second week of the Spring 2014 semester.
