FOR
P.A.W.S. PERMANENT RESIDENTS
There are a significant number of permanent residents at the Poquoson Animal Welfare
Sanctuary. There are considered permanent for a variety of reasons, but primarily due to age
and health conditions.
The care and feeding of a healthy resident averages $400 annually. This covers food, litter,
flea/tick treatments, routine medical exams and vaccinations. So, you can imagine how the
costs escalate when they require additional veterinary care, special diets, and medicines.
Our budget is spread between the kitten intake and adoption program, vet visits, facilities
operation, trapping, spay/neutering, and of course maintenance of our permanent residents.
As a result, there’s a continuous need for donations to help support all of our mission focus
areas.
IS THERE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU TO HELP?
YES! You can become a sponsor for your favorite permanent resident (or residents!). This is
ideal for folks who can’t own a cat (or any more cats), but who would like to take a vested
interested in these kitties who don’t have the opportunity to experience a loving family
environment. Sponsors are also encouraged to visit their sponsored resident(s) at the
sanctuary.

History: I motored over to P.A.W.S. from a local campground
along with Lola in the summer of 2014. I have IBS so need
special medical support to keep it in check

History: I was found in an abandoned house with a broken
leg…someone had shot me. It was so damaged they had to
amputate my front left leg. But, no worries! I love my life, I can
run and climb, and I’m very happy at P.A.W.S.

History: I’m one of Miss Barbara’s original kitties. Lost my ear
to cancer in 2007 and have new nodules in my abdomen. I’m not
in pain, but on palliative care. Momma Shirley makes sure I have

have a chronic respiratory condition and I’m always sneezing.
