Career Pathways Program - Student Futures Package The program The Sport and Recreation Career Pathways Program Student Futures Package is a Department of Sport and Recreation People Development initiative, which aims to educate current students about the sport and recreation industry, provide networking opportunities with industry leaders and increase their skill level through professional development. The program will provide selected participants with the following: • • • • • Attendance at a specialised industry networking event with representatives from sport and recreation organisations Three professional development workshops on varying topics An allowance of up to $500 to complete learning development courses or workshops specific to individual needs A mentor for the duration of the program A certificate of attainment. The following will be required of participants throughout the program: • • • Attendance at all organised events and workshops Completion of an individual volunteer project of at least 20 hours over the October to December program period, unpaid practical work may be acceptable for this element of the program, depending on the nature of the practicum Presentation of volunteer project at a workshop. Please be prepared to attend sessions throughout the months of November to December 2015, as a part of the program. Who can apply? Students in Western Australia who are enrolled in a sport and recreation related course of at least a Certificate III or first-year tertiary level and are interested in gaining employment in the sport and recreation industry. Please be aware that all program events will be held in Perth. Regional applications will be accepted, however travel expenses to and from Perth for program events are the responsibility of the applicant. Assessment of applications Applications will be assessed by a panel of representatives from the Department of Sport and Recreation and key sport and recreation industry bodies. Applicants may be required to attend an interview.
