Drawing and Art Poster Competition
Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH), Islamabad, an affiliate of Pakistan
Science Foundation, Ministry of Science and Technology, has scheduled a “Drawing and
Art Poster Competition” among the school children at PMNH on May 22nd, 2013. These
posters/drawings will be exhibit in the premises of PMNH for public viewing. The event
is aimed to create awareness about biodiversity importance on the globe and threats
which constantly degrading it among the students. This year internationally declared
biodiversity theme is:-
“Water and Biodiversity”
International Biodiversity Day is celebrated all over the world on 22nd May every
year to highlight the significance of biodiversity conservation and importance in
ecosystem. International Biodiversity Day symbolizes and highlights that nations
throughout the world cooperate to halt and reverse the accelerating loss of biological and
genetic resources of the planet earth. It gives an opportunity to all to join hands and talk
about the existing and emerging problems caused by biodiversity loss and prospects of
biodiversity conservation.
Participants: The schoolchildren (30 Nos.) class 8-10 one or two from each school both
from public and private educational institutions of twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Date/Time: The Art Competition on May 22, 2013 at 09:00 to 11:00 am.
Venue: The competition will be held at Pakistan, Museum of Natural History, Garden
Avenue, Shakarparian, and Islamabad.
Prizes: The posters/drawings will be adjudged by a jury of artists and scientist and first,
second and third position-holders will be awarded cash prizes amounting to Rs 5,000, Rs
3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively as a token of encouragement in a special prize
distribution ceremony which will be held later on (Date and time will be intimate to the
participants). Students from all public and private sectors institutions are encouraged to take part
in the competition.
It is requested that suitable students for the event may kindly be nominated and
communicated to the PMNH before 20th May, 2013 positively with contact numbers.

cooperation to PMNH in making this event successful.
