Making Recommendations to Library Board Committee is advisory in nature and will be making recommendations to the RLPL Board of Trustees. Choosing Firms (Conceptual Design) Group members will look at Architectural/ Design firms over the next months and will bring 5-10 favorites to the next meeting. At that meeting we will narrow down our selection and develop a “Case Statement.” QBS Process Identify a selection committee Identify interested and potential firms Mail requests for Statement of Qualifications (SOQs) to those firms Review the references of the firms which submitted their SOQ and decide on short list of firms to interview Notify short-listed firms of tour date and interview date and criteria Notify other firms and express appreciation for their time/ interest Tour facility with each short-listed firm Interview firms Review SOQs and notes and rank firms Notify all firms of results Negotiate and execute a contract with the selected firm (this would be for our pre-design or conceptual design) Awareness Campaign (Geek the Library)Brief discussion of GTL, how it is funded, and what its purpose is. Capital Campaign (Fundraising) Fundraising will likely be done by a paid firm, but relationships within the community will help with that as well. This committee will make recommendations on fundraising organizations to the Board. Contact Group members will stay in touch via email. Small groups may wish to take library road trips and visit/ take pictures of other libraries. Development of a “Case Statement” Work on answering these questions before the next meeting. What do we expect from a new or renovated building? What will make it different from other libraries? What will make it different from the current library? Why is it needed? Why is it worth millions of dollars?
