Future steps / Milestones
VISUALIZE in 3D: An anatomic atlas has been developed to generate a patient-specific
3D model (segmentation and automatic registration, image fusion). Brain structures
and organs at risk are clearly visible to allow the neurosurgeon an optimization of the
electrode implantation trajectory.
AUTOMATIC image FUSION: The automatic registration of planning images with the
CT of the day is used for automatic generation of the implantation coordinates into
the stereotactic frame.
EVALUATION to optimize treatment outcome: During the post-operative phase, the
neurosurgeon can visualize the exact implantation site and compare the activated
volumes with the clinical score. This evaluation is used to create anatomo-clinical
atlases: 3D maps showing clinical efficiency according to implantation site, based on
real patient data.
