Alstom and DF donation helps turns Furniture Recycling Project into a Reality Alstom and DF have provided much needed financial support to local community group Ear4U. The donation will go towards setting up a second hand clothing and recycled furniture scheme at the former Partington Youth Centre. In recent times, Janice Graham and Trisha Watson, who run Ear4U, set up a second hand clothes scheme in Partington. From humble beginnings of two clothes rails, they have rapidly expanded and will additionally operate a furniture recycling facility. Janice said “We were extremely grateful to Trafford Council for providing us with the building in the first place. However, without the financial assistance from Alstom and DF to undertake cosmetic repairs to the building, we wouldn’t be where we are now. We are also very grateful to BlueSCI for their continued support.” Trisha added “In addition to the repairs, Alstom and DF have provided funding to really get us started. We can now set up a full laundry service for the second hand clothes and use some of the money to run our pick up van for collecting/delivering the second hand furniture. We cannot believe how quickly this has come together”. Lead contractors Alstom and partner DF who will be constructing the 880MW power station on the site of the former Carrington coal fired station on Manchester Road, Carrington presented the cheque to Janice and Trisha. Wolfgang Puschitz, Alstom Project Director said “We are delighted to be associated with such a good cause that directly benefits local people. Janice and Trisha are two extraordinary ladies, who are really making a difference in their community”.
