Describe your past successes in creating educational products and/or services that address skills gaps for industry, including but not limited to development and adoption of curriculum (be sure to highlight any experience at the community college level). Describe how you have taken a leadership role in creating a vision, identifying opportunities, and acquiring resources to organize cross-organizational and cross-functional teams to achieve a common set of goals. Discuss curricular challenges facing your sector – within the community college tier of education; between tiers of education, and between higher education and industry. Collaborative communities can choose to interact virtually, via ccc confer, in-person or some combination thereof. Each collaborative community must have a charter that states its objectives, names the host, and specifies a span of life for the community. Upon completion of the charter, the community is retired. 67 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 75 76 77 78 Define each segment including the size, common characteristics of the businesses and workforce, locations, industry associations, educational partners (including community colleges and others), competitors, projected growth and prospect for positive outcomes in serving this segment. Describe some of the specific needs and trends that affect this segment’s workforce in the 0-2 year vs. 3-5 year timeframes. Identify the industry-recognized credentials that employers are willing to pay for or hire against. If it is an emerging sector, list where credentials are currently under development or need to be developed. What do you propose to be the response from the community colleges to each segment? o What are the offering(s) – such as short and long term training and education services, career pathway, and/or stackable credentials? o Which of these responses should be regionalized? o Which offerings are temporal? Which of these offerings could transcend from noncredit to for-credit over time? Identify and evaluate existing Perkins-funded collaboratives or advisories related to this sector. Identify redundant advisories across the state (e.g., K-12 system? WIB? Industry groups? SB70 funded? Perkins-funded? EWD-funded? Other). Discuss plans to leverage, co-opt, or navigate them. Describe how you plan to structure the sector’s advisory body(ies) moving forward. Are you available full time for the role of Sector Navigator? If not, identify percentage of available time. Discuss how you plan to allocate your time over the 2013-14 year in this role? State any potential conflicts of interest in executing this role on behalf of the Chancellor’s Office. How do you plan to staff/resource the coordination function? This may include communications, website, meeting logistics, reporting, monitoring, etc. Attendance at all Extended Operations Teams and Sector Deep Dives is expected. Given the available budget, project sufficient funds for travel. Identify your fiscal agent. Will you have the support of your fiscal agent as you work to collect, track, analyze, and report on the Common Metrics & Accountability Measures? Please describe known/anticipated issues. Sector Navigators are key talent roles for the system. No individual can hold more than one key talent role for the system.
