KITALE TWO DAY FREE SURGICAL AND MEDICAL CAMP The event marked the climax of 2014/2015 MSAUN events. The major camp was held in Trans- Nzoia primary school in Kitale, Trans- Nzoia County which was successful. The team comprised of 24 Medical Practitioners and 90 Medical students, both male and female bringing total volunteers to 114. A camp was set up at Trans-Nzoia Primary School on the early morning of Saturday 18th April and teams divided into the following departments: Triage and Vitals Internal Medicine(male and female) Paediatrics Obstetrics and Gynaecology Surgery Ophthalmology Dentistry Pharmacy Laboratory SURGICAL Led by Surgical resident Dr the surgical department: LIPOMAS DERMOID CYST OTHER MINOR SURGERIES CIRCUMCISIONS Rizwan Salyani and Dr Azim Uddin, the following were done in 11 3 3 40 DENTAL CASES Taiba Medical centre's dental team led by Dr. Azim Uddin performed for the following dental cases: GENERAL DENTAL CASES 130 IMPACTED OPERCULECTOMY 5 1 EYE With the support of Centers for Health & Education Programmes (CHEPs), led by Dr Muhsin Sheriff: TOTAL SEEN 775 CATARACTS DIAGNOSED AT CAMP 40 READERS GLASSES DISPENSED 281 EYEDROPS GIVEN 538 OTHER DIAGNOSES 70 100 cataracts surgeries were performed at Kitale District Hospital by Dr. Rono, free of charge and fully sponsored by CHEPs. PATIENTS SEEN PER DEPARTMENT: MEDICINE: 764 EYE: 775 PAEDIATRICS 256 DENTAL: 136 SURGERY: 81 OBS/GYN: 75 The OBs/Gyn department was led by Prof Zahida Qureshi and Dr Rukiya Almaawiya and saw 75 cases.
