RULES AND REGULATIONS

This show will run under AHSA rules. At any point where show rules and AHSA rules are in conflict, AHSA
rules will take precedence.

All horses entered must be registered with the AHSA Ltd. No pending registrations will be accepted. All
owners must be financial members of the AHSA Ltd.

All entries must be either through nominate, or on the official entry form accompanied by the entry fees.

Late entries will be accepted on the day up to 8.30am with a surcharge of $30 per horse.


There will be no refund of entry monies under any circumstances.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times

The GVAHC reserves the right to alter, combine, add or delete any event.

Exhibitors enter entirely at their own risk. If any exhibit, whilst on the showgrounds, shall cause or be the
cause of injury or damage to any other exhibit, exhibitor or the general public, the owner of such animal
shall indemnify the club, its officials and members, from and against all damages, costs, claims, expenses or
liabilities incurred.

No stallion or colt is to be handled or ridden by a person under 18 years of age while on the showgrounds.

All ridden horses are to be 3 years old or over

No foal under the age of 6 weeks is to be shown.

The judge’s decision is final. A judge may withhold any award at his/her discretion.

No protest shall be entertained, unless in writing and lodged with the Show Secretary, within 1 hour of the
judgement in dispute, and accompanied by a $50 fee, which will be forfeited should the complaint be
thought frivolous. All decisions of the Disputes Panel shall be final and binding.

Youth classes – In any youth class’s short Jodhpur boots must be worn, no long boots or gaiters may be worn
in these classes. Youth handlers are not to carry a whip. Approved safety helmets must be worn by all youth
riders under the age of 18 years at all times while mounted.

An approved safety helmet must be worn for all ridden events except where specific attire is required.

Any class with marked with a * may be split if numbers permit or if sponsored ($60 sponsorship required to
split the class)

Any winner of a class designated as ‘special’ is only eligble for the relevant ‘special’ grand championship

Owner/trainer/exhibitor. Must be exhibited by the owner, or a member of the owners immediate family.
The exhibit must have been solely prepared and trained by the owner/immediate family for 3 months prior
to the show. A stat dec may be required to be signed.

All prizes and deposit monies must be collected on the day of the show.

ARABIAN PERFORMANCE HORSE CLASSES
IN HAND
Performance horse in hand is judging form to function conformation, without any apparent artifice. The horses are
bought into the ring individually, and judged on their conformation and movement as it pertains to their ability to
make a good performance horse. Each horse is scored on a score sheet (a copy of which may be seen on the next
page); score sheets may be collected from the show office after results have been posted.
Horses are to be shown in a plain bridle, leather stable halter or plain show halter. Make up is minimal.
Upon being directed by the steward to enter the ring, each horse will walk straight towards the judge, halt and be
stood in a more natural pose (lowered head and neck) than used in other Arabian in hand classes. An ‘open stance’
(ie all 4 legs visible from either side) may also be used. The judge will then direct the competitor to complete the set
workout, walk a triangle, then trot a triangle, before halting again. The horse then leaves the ring via the exit.
ARABIAN PERFORMANCE HORSE SADDLE
These classes are judged on the circle at the walk trot and canter. Lengthening of any gait may be required; a rein
back whilst lined up may also be executed. Classes are split by rider age; the specifications of each class vary and are
listed here in order

Horses are presented as if for a show hunter class in with no bling browbands and minimal makeup.
