Centennial, a School for Expeditionary Learning ECE Para position POSITION OBJECTIVE – To assist with delivery of instruction, the care and discipline, and the preparation of instructional materials for three, four and/or five year-old pre-kindergarten students as directed by the ECE classroom teacher. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – 1. Attend and participate in all required pre-service training programs and staff development meetings 2. Perform classroom duties as assigned by the teacher which may include but is not limited to preparing instructional materials, assisting with student instruction, care and discipline, and keeping the classroom clean and well-organized 3. Assist with field trips, parent meetings (including child care) and other classroom activities 4. Address specific student’s needs as identified by the teacher 5. Provide a supportive learning environment for students 6. Plan and evaluate program and student needs with the teacher daily 7. Communicate with teachers and administrators about performance and disciplinary issues 8. Communicate with parents about routine issues as directed 9. Maintain the confidentiality of student information 10. Follow established district policies and procedures 11. Comply with ECE program rules and regulations including State of Colorado licensing requirements for Child Care Centers 12. Performs other duties as required or requested. (Lunchroom coverage, Recess) EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE – Paraprofessionals are required to have transcripts verifying at least 48 semester hours (from an accredited university) OR conferred degree. If these are not available, you are required to provide WorkKeys test results AND High School diploma (or GED). KNOWLEDGE & OTHER QUALIFICATIONS – Essential duties are routinely performed with the ECE teacher in the school environment of classroom, hallway, auditorium/lunchroom and playground. Duties may be performed on approved field trips to locations including museums, theaters, designated businesses, performing arts facilities such as auditoriums, concert halls and indoor and outdoor stages. Essential duties regularly involve speaking with students. Work may require completing paperwork at a desk or using a computer, printer or other business office machine. Essential duties may involve occasional kneeling, squatting, crouching, stooping, crawling, walking, standing, bending, and climbing (to stack, store or retrieve supplies or office equipment) as directed. Compliance to security and safety procedures, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is required. Compliance with established human resource and departmental policies regarding attendance (absences, tardiness, sick leave use and other scheduled or unscheduled absences), safety, security, disaster and other policies, procedures and practices. Compliance with ECE licensing requirements, which may include costs of fingerprint and background checks. Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Performance is limited to the scope of essential duties and responsibilities.
