FEASIBILITY STUDY OF IRON ORE CONCENTRATE DE-SULFURIZING USING ROASTING TECHNOLOGY IN GOLGOHAR MINING & INDUSTRIAL CO. ABSTRACT GolGohar mining & industrial complex with more than 1.3 billion tons of Iron ore in Iran, Kerman province and Southwest of the city of Sirjan, is located in metamorphic complex of GolGohar. Because of the old geological age and multiple structural events, the genesis of the deposit is supposed to be polygenic. Due to increasing depth of the mine and the following change in mineral composition, the processing rheology of this Iron ore has been changed a lot. Magnetite is the most economic mineral in this deposit and the waste mineral including sulfides such as Pyrite, Pyrrhotite, Chalcopyrite, etc. The produced concentrate of beneficiation plant has grade of Fe =% 66.7 and S = %1.7 is difficult to present to steel industry raw material market. Considering the complexity in mineralogy, using of the roasting technology is likely to be one of the immediate solutions to produce the effect of high grade of ‘S’ in concentrate. Less the 3 minutes in the lab scale and less the 17 minutes in the pilot scale roasting test in rotary kiln, in temperature of 500 °C was proved to be sufficient time for reaching sulphur content of %0.2 in roasted product. In addition %68.38 of Fe content, lower particle size distribution, more grind ability and considerable decrease is Chlorine content have been the positive effects of roasting and finally high grade concentrate would be result in which can be easily saleable in market.
