Social Media Content
We hope this document will help state and local Leagues utilize their social media channels for key
hashtags and images you can use, as well as draft social media content and suggested timing. Please
feel free to tailor these messages to fit the elections in your community.
In addition to this content, share information about the voter registration events you’ll be hosting
and where eligible citizens can find you to get registered. Don’t forget to take photos of your
events and use those in your posts as well!
As elections season continues, we’ll continue to roll out new content, and will be updating this

HASHTAGS: Hashtags help your content enter into larger conversations and garner visibility.
Whenever possible, you should use the following popular hashtags regarding voter registration:
#vote #register2vote #R2V14. #CelebrateNVRD is the official hashtag for National Voter
Registration Day.
You should also research local hashtags specific to your state or community’s elections (#MNgov,
#Masen or #CAvotes, for example). Hashtags are most successful on Twitter, and should be used
sparingly on Facebook.

To use simply right-click the image(s) you desire to use and save to your files. These photos should
be sized to work well on both Twitter and Facebook. They can be paired with sample Facebook
posts and tweets at your choosing, and feel free to pair these with your own messaging as well. You
can also always reuse images shared by LWVUS or VOTE411 social media channels.
Tweets that include photos perform significantly better than those that do not, so we strongly
encourage you to use these or any other images you may have! On Facebook, photos also perform
strongly, but can detract from the link you want to include and potential click-throughs to that
resource.
In addition to these images, we encourage you to share photos of the voter registration drives,
debates and forums, and other elections events you’ll be having in the lead up to Election Day.
