We'd love to know your interest now, as we make our list official, at last. Alex (and Anne) Dear Colleagues: The time has come for us to confirm instructor and institution participation in FemTechNet’s networked learning experiment: the 2013 DOCC "Feminist Dialogues in Technology." In our discussions to date, we have referred to these as NODAL courses. As you know, we hope to identify at least 15 nodal courses to be taught at learning institutions around the globe--at least one per continent--from September to December 2013. Please let us know at this time if you are ready to make the initial commitment to offer a nodal course at your institution. REPLY TO: annebalsamo@gmail.com with your confirmation/interest I will then disseminate the list of nodal courses to the entire network and create a dedicated instructor's discussion list. We will also begin the preparation of an Instructor's Guide that describes course structure, themes, activities, technological infrastructure, material preparation, and schedule that you may share with your department or administration. We are hoping to obtain funding for a week-long meeting for all DOCC instructors during the summer of 2013 at University of Southern California in Los Angeles. During that week, we will introduce and build the course, create the shared learning activities, and provide hands-on training using the technologies required to participate in the online events. We are also seeking funding to support under-funded institutions outside the US to secure the resources needed to teach the course. If you are interested, but unable at this time to make a firm commitment, please let us know and we will be happy to assist you in securing support from your home institution. If you can not teach a formal course during the 2013 DOCC, please consider sponsoring an independent study with interested students or following along as a self-directed participant. In a few weeks we will send information that describes how any member of the network can contribute or evaluate learning materials (BOTLs) for the DOCC database. Finally, if you are connected to an instructor or teacher at an institution in the global south, please extend this invitation along with your introduction of our project. We continue to seek wide participation across the globe.
