Young Alumni Council Application (2016)

Dear Young Alum:

You are invited to apply for the Iowa State University Alumni Association’s (ISUAA) Young

Alumni Council (YAC). Over the last several years, the council has done some great things for young alumni (graduates of the past 10 years) of Iowa State University. As we move forward, we hope to establish even more great activities and communications specifically for young alumni.

Today, young alumni make up 23.5 percent of the overall alumni body (56,517 of 236,671 living, addressable graduates) and 5.5 percent of our current membership (2,903 of 52,279). The importance of accepting, encouraging, and developing the talents and resources of this young alumni demographic will be key to continued success in promoting Iowa State University and connecting Iowa State alumni with one another.

YAC consists of 13 young alumni, two current students and a liaison to the ISUAA Board of Directors.

Councilors have been chosen from a variety of ages and graduation years within our demographic, and we continue to seek as much diversity as possible.

YAC terms last three years, and councilors should be available to meet in Ames two times per year.

Each councilor will be responsible for costs associated with travel back to Ames, as well as any lodging costs for the two on campus meetings each year (Oct and April).

Each councilor will also be responsible for soliciting awards nominations and membership through personal and Association networks.

YAC has been responsible for the development of multiple young alumni events, continued development and production of a young alumni e-newsletter, the evaluation of young alumni membership benefits and much more.

With the end of our seventh full year as an official program of the ISUAA nearing, we are preparing to usher in the next group of outstanding young alumni to assist with our efforts. We plan to announce two new councilors to YAC this year. If you are interested, we would love to see your application!

Application deadline is June 1 and the selected councilors to YAC will be named no later than

July 1. The first on-site meeting will take place Homecoming weekend (Oct 28-29, 2016).
