Antonio Correia and Madeline Specht John J. Culhane Award The John J. Culhane Award us named for the first principal of Louis M. Klein Middle School. These awards are given to an eighth grade girl and boy who are in good academic standing, have been involved in school activities, and have been active in community service. The awards are sponsored by the Student Council. Andrew Abbattista and Beatriz Almeida Donald L. Hilton Memorial Award The Donald L. Hilton Award is given in memory of Donald L. Hilton, longtime physical education teacher and coach at Louis M. Klein Middle School and the Harrison Central School District. The award recognizes excellence in athletics, sportsmanship, and overall school citizenship John Witte and Sydney Woolf Louis and Miriam Klein Service Award This award is presented to an LMK student who has demonstrated excellent leadership qualities and who has made a significant contribution to the school. Dillon Bogart Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition This award is sponsored by Congresswoman Nita Lowey. It recognizes one student who has demonstrated outstanding and invaluable service to the community. Emma Smolev Active Learner Award The Active Learner Award is sponsored by the Harrison Administrators’ Association. The award recognizes students who have been active learners throughout their years at LMK. They have made contributions to their school and community and have been role models for their peers. Gia Mancini, Philip Milana, Sarah Ryan, and Jeffrey Solomon American Association of University Women With the hope of encouraging female students in their study of mathematics and science, the American Association of University Women honors three female students who excel in mathematics and science in the eighth grade. The recipients of this award are the students who earned the highest combined cumulative average in both mathematics and science. Allison Karantzis, Risa Komatsu, Mihoko Sakanaka Perfect Attendance Award This award is given to the students who have achieved perfect attendance for two or three years while at Louis M. Klein Middle School. Zachary Carvajal, Demetria McMullen Amanda Moreau and Mizuka Mori The Triple “C” Award This award is sponsored by the New York State Attorney General. It recognizes students for their “Character, Courage and Commitment.” Joana Ayala and Ayeena Simoy The New York State Comptroller Achievement Award This award is sponsored by the New York State Comptroller, Thomas P. DiNapoli and recognizes students who have shown academic excellence and the potential for leadership through involvement in activities that improve the community and who have devoted a significant amount of time to helping their school and/or community. Dillon Bogart President’s Award for Educational Excellence This award is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, in partnership with the National Association of Elementary and Secondary School Prinicipals. It is presented to students who receive a 90% average or above for each quarter at Louis M. Klein Middle School through quarter two in Grade 8 and achieve a Level 4 on the SED testing.
