BOOM! CRASH! BANG! Have you ever stopped
and wondered how a storm works? Believe it or
not, there is a reason for how a storm works.
Wonder Words
This is how lightning works. First frozen raindrops
bump into each other. Then collisions create an
electrical charge. After that, the clouds fill up with
the electrical charge. Last, the positive charges
and negative charges attract. Then ZAAAAAAP!
Lightning strikes.
Negativecharacterized
by negative
electricity.
Collisions –
the act of
colliding.
STORMS, Boom! Crash! Zap! Plip Plop. Lightning
and rain are part of a storm. The thunder you hear
is not harmful, because it is actually just the sound
of lightning. Of course, you might know that the
speed of light travels faster than the speed of
sound. That’s why you see lightning before you
hear thunder. Did you know that there can actually
be rain without lightning or thunder?
Rain is just drops of water. That are formed from
hot air. Rain falls because of gravity. Rain drops
can get together and form bigger drops.
