David and Susan Hibbitt Scholarship in Technology or Biological Sciences 2016/17 This scholarship is offered to a PhD graduate studying Technology (Engineering/Chemical Engineering/ Computer Science) or Biological Sciences, and is intended to help younger researchers of high promise who choose to work in areas where basic research is likely to lead to developments of great value to all. The scholarship is worth up to £10,000 per year, depending on the level of course fee. The successful applicant will be admitted for the first year of a PhD degree and the award will be made at an equivalent level for three consecutive years maximum, subject to satisfactory progress. Current Jesus students who are transferring to a PhD in 2016/17 are also eligible. It is hoped that all applicants will have been accepted by the University for study before the scholarship application deadline of 31 March 2016. The recipient will be selected by Jesus College. Funding will be made available for three years maximum, subject to satisfactory research progress. Applicants are expected to identify additional funding sources to provide the balance of funding requirements. This Scholarship may be reviewed depending on the level of funding received. Documentation from your University application form may also be used independently by the assessors to support your submission. Decisions should be known by early May. Application Procedure Applicants should submit a completed David and Susan Hibbitt Scholarship Application Form to the Jesus College Graduate Office by 31 March 2016 together with a current CV and transcript. Applicants need to have applied to the University’s Graduate Admissions Office by 31 January 2016, specifying Jesus College as their first choice of College. A recent academic reference should be sent before the application deadline directly and in confidence to the College Graduate Office (graduate-tutor@jesus.cam.ac.uk) in support of your application for this scholarship. The reference should be written by someone who can offer an assessment of your academic achievements, your broader interests and your potential to contribute to the advancement of your field of study in the long term.
