Basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills included. Note: The content of this course is developed according to the Level A1 of the Common European Framework of Reference criteria. COURSE OBJECTIVES: As a result of successfully completing this course the student will: 1. 2. Develop beginning communication skills including the ability to converse, read and write in Spanish. In order to do this the student will learn basic concepts of grammar including the use of verb tenses, building vocabulary, and practising speaking Spanish in Class and Laboratories. Progress will be measured through the use of regular written and oral assessments. Expand the awareness of the Spanish-speaking world, including aspects of culture, family life, geography and history, deepening their understanding of the context in which the Spanish language flourishes. These assignments are dated and the system will not allow late work to be submitted and therefore, they will not be graded. Note: there are no exceptions to this arrangement. Quizzes: Every day the students will be assessed on vocabulary and verbs conjugation. Chapter tests: This course will cover five chapters of the Vistas textbook. Upon completion of each chapter the student will have a test that encompasses the material covered. Final exam: This exam will incorporate all the material learned during the three weeks.
