Learn about the rich history of the island and Bartibogue. Hear stories about John Connell’s special relationship with moose! Miramichi City Transit will pick up passengers at 10:00 in Retirement Miramichi and at the Chatham Visitor Information Centre for a trip to Metepenagiag. The experience will include native crafts, food, stories, a hike through the park and a visit to the interpretation centre. Paddle with the Pros at Beaubear’s Island Thursday, Sept. 18 & Saturday, Sept. 20 10:00 2:00 Saturday, Sept. 27: Introduction to Photography 10:00 - 12:00 (Limit = 12) Nature Photography 1:00 - 3:00 (Limit = 18) Pack a lunch and enjoy the unique vantage of the Miramichi River by canoe or kayak. Novices are encouraged to attend and receive instruction from experienced instructors. Trips to the island will also be available for those who would prefer to enjoy a hike on land! Learn about the basics of digital photography. Then apply what you learned in the morning to taking photographs of nature in the afternoon. You can sign up for just one, or both, of these sessions. Geocaching/Dutch Oven Cooking Wednesday, Sept. 10: 9:30 - 2:00 (Limit = 24) Learn how to track down the many treasures hidden through the Miramichi by using GPS units. Then take the experience to a higher level by learning how to cook delicious outdoor meals using cast iron pots and charcoal. You will be providing your own meal for this activity! Expanding Your Horizons at Camp Sheldrake Saturday, Sept. 20: 10:00 - 2:00 (Limit = 12 for each activity) Expand your own horizons by being introduced to crafts and hobbies such as quilting, wood carving, painting, and scrapbooking. MRTA’s documentary, “Still Fishin’” will be featured at 1:00! Magical Mystery Tour of the Mighty Miramichi Thursday, Oct. 2, 10:00 - 3:00 (Limit = 24) Hop onto Miramichi Transit for a magical mystery tour of our river. Stand on bridges, walk along salmon pools, and experience some surprises. Bring your camera for the fall foliage. The bus leaves from Retirement Miramichi and the Chatham Visitor Information Centre. Oak Point Connections: Enrichment Workshop Saturday, Oct. 4, 10:00 - 2:00 Go back in time to a one-room school house at Oak Point where you will experience an enriching day of learning how to drum, creating art from material found on the beach, and experiencing other interesting activities. Lunch will be provided.
