Permits to Work
You must obtain a Permit to Work before commencing work in any of CLES laboratories or roof
areas**
For safety and insurance purposes, external service engineers and members of the Campus Services Division must
obtain a permit to work before commencing work in any laboratory and certain other areas such as the roof and
aquaria. They must be warned of any hazards associated with the area. Equipment for repair should be clean and
free from hazards before they commence work. Due attention should be given to areas containing asbestos.
These permits also ensure that the workers are covered by the University third party indemnity insurance.
**Permits for working on the roof will also require a Campus Services ‘permit to work on the roof’
giving authorisation to carry out work.
