LSE PTA MINUTES Monday, April 7,2014 7:50 am Meeting was called to order via Tiffany Drady, PTA President TREASURER REPORT – Patty Popola Savings: Starting $97.00 / Ending $97.00 Checking: Starting $19,625.08 / Ending $15,210.45 / Bal. as of today $14,986.51 / Outstanding checks $121.54 Attendees: Dr. Lingren – Principal Patty Popola - Treasurer Tom Popola - Membership Emily Kline – Volunteer Chair Julie Tomasino - Secretary Harmony Gokey – Programs/VP Marie Burnett – Teacher Liaison Amy Barker – Yearbook / SAC Chad Barker – All Guest: SBS Promotional Solutions – “Smitty” Smitty was referred to us by Dr. Lingren – Julie T. arranged him to meet with our board Hang Tags – Business sponsors on one side with ads to cover cost of tags Every child receives a hang tag even if they don’t need it for car riders One per family free – charge a few dollars for additional tags requested which acts as a donation/fundraiser. 1,000 tags recommended for our size school / One color was suggested to utilize for the whole school year. His cost is based on him finding sponsors – Cost is reduced if we get our own sponsors which is rebated to us. He does ALL advertising products – signs/banners/t-shirts/key chains. Sunshine Math – Harmony Gokey Winners for each grade level (5 winners) – District sent a letter stating we won for our grade level which has been printed for each child. A letter has been composed to Wish the students Good Luck. They suggested the kids bring a snack due to the long hours at Wolfson. A permission slip has been added. Snack & 2 - #2 pencils. Can PTA supply NutriGrain Bars and pencils for this competition. Goody bags can be made. A lot of the Sunshine Math work was not sent out due to the load of work and FCAT. Kindergarten is completed and cute awards have been made with Smarty’s attached. 1st Grade Francis Rivera (95%) 2nd Berry/Smith 3rd Gannon /Good 4th – V Miller/Straight 5th – Woods - Vanessa Brown is the only student to achieve 100% Harmony’s hubby (Brandon) is making medals/trophies for the 5 winners to be presented at the award ceremony. Adding to the School Improvement Plan in the works FUNDRAISERS – Tiffany Drady Fun Run – 15.1% was what we made of the total earned January we voted for the proceeds to go toward the different clubs that respond to the request sent out. $100 gift card was donated by Fun Run to the highest teachers’ participation – Ms. Marie Burnett 5% of the profit made is to be awarded to the teacher with the highest # of pledges – Mrs. Dutton! $94.85 was given to the Yearbook Club for bus transportation for their field trip to the news station. $1900 was LSE’s profit and $900 was made to be moved into an account to use for clubs since there is not another general meeting until May. These funds will be used for any clubs who request funds, noted below: Funds Requested: WLSE – Pizza party – Lunch at McD’s after field trip Student Council – 2 buses for field trips – approximately $104.00 x 2 (Sea Turtle Sanctuary & Humane Society – adoption cost $40) Student Council - Has requested several funds for various things: T-shirts ($10/ea.) End of year awards……. Ms. Stokes – supplies for the art program – approximately $200+ All these clubs were funded equally at the beginning of the year except for Art. Dr. Lingren to find out what they’ve spent their existing budget on! Motions passed for the following: CLUBS: Patrols – Nothing Requested Tots – Nothing Requested Science – Nothing Requested WLSE - $205 for Pizza Party Chorus – Nothing Requested Student Council - $205 for buses Year Book Club – Rec’d their $95 for bus transportation Art Program - $300 for supplies Dr. Lingren – Lone Star has been selected for the District Accreditation visit!!!
