Lesson Name: Converting from Fraction to Decimal
Action: Catering Project Work Day 2
Phase 1: Engage:
Students will be given a benchmark fraction. The teacher will give an easy example of what one fraction can represent. For
example: ½ = half of a cookie.
Phase 2: Explore:
The teacher will then ask the students to come up with several different examples on their own over the fraction. This will
lead into the discussion of what decimal they think their fraction belongs to and how we can determine that by using the
example of money.
Phase 3: Explain:
The teacher will then explain how to convert fractions to decimals by providing Cornell notes.
Phase 4: Elaborate:
Students will then practice converting fractions to decimals by matching a set of cards with decimals and percents
