JOB DESCRIPTION STONEPILLOW RESTORE WORKSHOP SUPERVISOR Job Title: Workshop Supervisor, Stonepillow Chichester Restore Reports to: Project Manager, Stonepillow Restore Place of work: Stonepillow Restore Warehouse, Terminus Road, Chichester Job purpose: To supervise the refurbishment and repair of domestic appliances and furniture donated to the project ensuring that all items are safe and ready for resale. To mentor and advise our trainees on the processes involved in repairing electrical household appliances, kitchen white goods and furniture. To work in-line with Stonepillow health and safety regulations and policies and ensure that these are met by all other workshop staff and trainees. Main Responsibilities of the Job: 1. Practical Skills To assess and repair domestic appliances and white goods to make ready for resale by Restore, To assess and repair furniture items to make ready for resale by Restore. To ensure that all electrical items for sale are tested for electrical safety as required by the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994, Consumer Protection Act and British Standard EN 60335. To ensure compliance with all environmental legislation including WEEE regulations. To offer installation of electric cookers and washing machines if this is required by the customer. To offer advice and guidance to volunteers in learning new practical skills in repair, upkeep and general maintenance of donated goods. Supervising the activities in the Restore Project Workshop ensuring the trainees are competent, confident and safely able to use power tools. Performing basic maintenance repairs across all Stonepillow projects 2. Quality Assurance To carry out repairs and refurbishment to electrical items and saleable furniture to a high quality level, enabling us to issue a 3-month warranty on all electrical appliances sold. To ensure compliance with recognised industry codes of practice and to keep up-to-date with all new legislation and codes of practice. To help implement and deploy quality standards and operational procedures. Ensuring that the workshop is kept to a high standard of safety. 3. Customer Service To provide excellent customer service to customers and outside agencies. To advise customers on warranty and operating instruction issues. To provide after sales service under guarantee or when items are returned for repair. To promote high levels of customer care, good standard of appearance and good conduct to our volunteers. 4. Organisation To organise own timetable effectively to ensure that repairs are carried out in a timely manner in line with customers’ needs and expectations. To work within a framework that promotes learning to the project trainees and to carry out regular one to one meetings and occasional induction sessions. To enter relevant data into the stock control system, ensuring that information held is accurate and up-to-date. To set up and facilitate a series of training programmes to enable trainees to develop practical skills in the maintenance of electrical appliances and furniture restoration. Competent in the use of Microsoft programmes and general administrative tasks. 5. Health and Safety To work in line with appropriate health and safety regulations, promoting these in the workshop and ensuring these are adhered to. To actively participate in all health and safety risk assessments and ensure these are implemented. To induct new volunteers in the project workshop facility. 6. Other To assist in the supervision and training of all trainees of the domestic appliance workshop. To be a role model and an example of good practice to the trainees To attend and actively participate in staff meetings. To assist in the cleaning of appliances as required. To drive the van to deliver or collect items as required. To assist in the loading and unloading of deliveries as required. To undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required in the interest of Stonepillow 7.
