IGCA Scholarship Criteria
Scholarship must be postmarked April 10th
The Iowa Girls' Coaches Association will offer a scholarship to a senior who has
been active in high school sports. The amount of the scholarship and the number
of scholarships given will be determined on a year to year basis.
To apply:
1. Fill out the attached scholarship form. The form must be typed. No
HANDWRITTEN or incomplete applications will be considered.
2. Attach a letter of recommendation from your high school counselor, principal or
activities director.
3. Write a one page essay on “The Value of Involvement in High School Activities.”
Judging:
1. All applications will be judged on a weighted point system.
2. Special consideration will be given to daughters of active ICGA members and those
going into education or coaching.
3. The essay, high school activities and the following are the main sources of
consideration: GPA, ACT/SAT, and Class Rank.
4. Bonus points will be given if the applicant goes into education and/or coaching and if
the applicant has a parent that is currently coaching.
Payment:
If the student is chosen for this scholarship, a check will be written directly to the student.
*The girl athlete must be an Iowa resident enrolled in an approved public or private Iowa
High School as a senior.
Completed applications must be postmarked by April 10th for consideration. Applications
