Faculty Scholarship in Political Science, International Relations, or Public Administration
Application Criteria
Eligible students must be declared OU undergraduate political science, public administration, or
international relations majors, with a minimum of 12 credits of political science – or equivalent
transfer courses from other colleges/universities.
Students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.3, and a minimum GPA of 3.3 in the major.
Application Materials
Application forms are available in the Political Science Department office, 418 Varner Hall.
Students must submit a completed application by the stated application deadline (5 p.m.,
Monday, February 16, 2015). A complete application includes:
 Completed application form.
 An essay of no more than three pages (typed, double-spaced, 12-point font) describing
their qualifications for the scholarship. The essay should address the student’s
academic qualifications, their service to the OU campus and the larger community, and
how their undergraduate degree fits into their future goals and plans.
 Completed recommendation forms from two OU faculty members, at least one of
whom should be a member of the Department of Political Science, who support your
application. These will be submitted by faculty. Please remind them of the need to do
so promptly!
Scholarship awards will be decided by the Department of Political Science Scholarship Awards
Committee. The decision of the committee is final.
Applicants will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation,

Expected graduation date must be no earlier than December 2015.
Award
A $1,000 award will be made each year, which will be awarded to the winner’s OU student
account and applied toward OU tuition in the following fall semester. Thus, awards are
restricted to only those who are returning to OU for the following fall semester.
