trypanosomes
A total of 484 water buffaloes in Vietnam and of 231 of sheep, goats and
cattle sera were analysed for the presence of anti-trypanosoma antibody by
CATT/T. evansi test and Trypanosome crude antigen ELISA
Molecular detection and
characterization of
Babesia and Theileria
A total of 1824 cattle sera from Thailand were analysed for the presence of
merozoite surface antigen 2b (MSA-2b) of Babesia bovis by PCR and
phylogenic analysis was conducted. A total of 244 cattle sera from Thailand,
Brazil and Ghana were analysed for the presence of MSA-1 of Babesia bovis
by PCR and DNA sequences were conducted. A total of 71 cattle sera from
Sri Lanka were analysed for the presence of major piroplasm surface protein
(MPSP) by PCR and DNA sequences were conducted.
Prevalence and genetic

A total of 250 horse sera from Mongolia were analysed for the presence of

Animal Health
This training course was financed by Japan International Cooperation
Agency (JICA). Six young scientists from Indonesia, Mongolia, Thailand,
Uganda and Zambia have been trained for basic molecular biology and
molecular diagnostics for 10 months (Oct. 2012-Aug. 2012). Another two
scientists from Indonesia and Vietnam are being trained for basic molecular
