Smucker Farms of Lancaster County Farm Share Program What You Can Expect in Your Share: We will be providing you a mixture of fruit and vegetables grown in Lancaster County. Each box will be a 3/4 bushel, and include a variety of greens, roots, herbs, seasonal veggies, fruit, and eggs, cheese, butter, grits, grains, etc. during the leaner months of Winter. Each share will average 10 items per week, mostly more, sometimes less. You are paying for 11 weeks for each Quarterly session over a 13-week period. You can let us know in advance which 2 weeks you would like to not receive a share below, or contact us at info@smuckerfarmsdc.com 2 weeks in advance to request to not receive a share for a certain week. Spring (April-June): Cool, unpredictable weather is typical for spring in Lancaster county, PA. You can expect crops that thrive in cool temperatures and some very earlyseason fruit. This season’s crops are heavy on the greens, so expect to receive many greens through May and June. Expect asparagus, broccoli, Swiss chard, garlic scapes, romaine, bibb and baby mix lettuce, radishes, rhubarb, scallions, peas, snow peas, spinach and strawberries. Summer (June-August): Mid-July brings hot, humid days and nights to Lancaster County and night-shade plants like cucumbers and tomatoes thrive! In the summer months of July, and August you can expect the following fruits and veggies in your share; green, yellow and red string beans, beets, black berries, green and red cabbage, cantaloupes, cucumbers, eggplant, Lima beans, onions, peppers of all sorts, potatoes, summer squash, sweet corn, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, watermelon and zucchini. Fall (September-November): Humidity wanes in September and cool nights bring back great conditions for growing nutrient-dense cool weather crops. During September and October Lancaster County farms produce a huge harvest, reminding us to “put some by” for leaning times. Expect broccoli, brussel sprouts, red and green cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, collard greens, fennel, kale, leeks, romaine, bibb and baby lettuce, parsnips, spinach, turnips and winter squash. Winter (December-March): A wide variety of fresh greenhouse and root vegetables that will include spinach, arugula, bok choi, beets, kale, mustard greens, romaine, cauliflower, leeks, sweet potatoes, squash, mixed baby greens, heads of lettuce, and potatoes in 3/4 bushel box. We will hold bottles for the season if you cannot pick it up during the CSA Pick-up window. Payment cannot be processed online due to regulatory restrictions. Cost per Quarter is $275 or $1,100 for the Full Year. Any shares left after that will be given to Martha’s Table. We do highly recommend picking up on the delivery day as we cannot provide enough refrigeration for all the shares, and veggies and fruit can get a bit wilty if left out overnight.
