The program will be open to individuals age 17 to 20 as of Jan. 1. 2012 The winner(s) will have the following time commitments and upon competition in the Florida Dairy Ambassador Program agree to the following time requirements: Serve on the Florida Junior All-Breeds Convention planning committee during the subsequent year. Submit a bi-annual written report to the Florida Dairy Youth Ambassador Selection Committee on his/her dairy promotion, leadership and activities. These reports will be due to the selection committee on June 15, 2012 and Dec. 15, 2012. Seek out and participate in minimum of (5) dairy-related activities during the year, including but not limited to the activities listed – minimum of one (1) event during Ag Literacy Week (March 19-23, 2012), Dairy Promotions during the Florida State Fair, minimum of one (1) event in association with the Florida Dairy Farmers, minimum of one (1) educational/promotional event during June (Dairy Month) Serve as emcee at the 2013 Florida Junior All-Breeds Convention Luncheon and Banquet Attend the 2013 Florida Junior All-Breeds Convention and make a presentation to the attendees at the Awards Luncheon The winner(s) duties as the Florida Dairy Youth Ambassador will end at the time the following year’s winner(s) is announced, though it is encouraged that winners remain involved in the program. Florida Dairy Youth Ambassador Program Guidelines Each candidate must have a passion and dedication to the dairy industry and be a supporter of the Florida Dairy Industry and the success of the program. A completed contest application packet must be submitted to the Florida Dairy Youth Ambassador Program by Electronic Submission – 12/1/2011 (11:59 PM deadline) to christophersholc@ufl.edu Candidates will receive email receipt confirmation. All applications submitted after deadline will not be considered. At that time each finalist will: Be interviewed by a panel of judges Give a 10 minute PowerPoint presentation (on given topic) Answer a dairy industry related question at the Junior All-Breeds Awards Luncheon Applicants are strongly encouraged to participate in the Florida Jr. AllBreeds Speech Contest The winner(s) will be selected based on the results of the application, interview, presentations, and overall conduct. Eligibility The program will be open to individuals age 17 to 20 as of Jan. 1. 2012 Only Florida residents are eligible to apply. Finalists will be admitted to the Florida Junior All-Breeds Convention free of charge. Candidates will be responsible for their own travel and lodging expenses. Candidates, except for previous winner(s), will be allowed to re-apply in future contests. Winner(s) will be announced at the Florida Junior All-Breeds Banquet and up to two winners may be selected. The winner(s) will receive: A scholarship in the amount of $500 to be made payable to the university of the students choice. A travel/expense allotment of $500 to be used towards dairy related activities that the winner will participate in during the year as Ambassador. Time Commitment/Code of Conduct Acknowledgement Agreement The Florida Dairy Youth Ambassador shall represent the Florida Dairy Youth Ambassador Program and Florida Dairy Junior Allbreeds Convention, the Florida dairy industry and the state dairy breed associations at all times when on official public appearances and will abide by the following guidelines: Shall promote the Florida Dairy Industry, the dairy cow and all dairy products Will uphold the highest ideals of conduct, dress and poise Will not consume any alcoholic beverages while representing the Florida Dairy Ambassador Program at any dairy-related function Will be expected to abide by all rules of the program If for any reason, the Florida Dairy Youth Ambassador cannot uphold the above standards, he/she will be expected to forfeit his/her title upon notification from the Florida Dairy Youth Ambassador Selection Committee.
