Vancouver Coastal Health Providence Health Care and The University of British Columbia DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY HEAD, DIVISION OF THORACIC SURGERY Vancouver, Canada Vancouver Coastal Health, Providence Health Care, and The University of British Columbia, Department of Surgery, are recruiting applications for an outstanding academic clinician to serve as the Head of the Division of Thoracic Surgery for the hospitals and the UBC Department of Surgery. Our hospitals provide a comprehensive clinical and academic regional program. The individual we seek will plan, manage, and implement clinical and academic programs that foster the professional and scholarly growth of a multiinstitutional division and to provide leadership to the Division’s faculty. The Head will have overall responsibility for the Division’s MD Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs and will promote the development of research programs of appropriate breadth and depth for a University division of national stature. We require a candidate with demonstrated commitment to patient care, teaching, and research in advancing knowledge. Applicants should have attained national and international stature in the field of general thoracic surgery. Candidates should demonstrate a record of excellence in thoracic surgery, clinical service and scholarship. The successful candidate must hold or be eligible for certification in Thoracic Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be eligible for licensure by the BC College of Physicians and Surgeons. Clinical Faculty rank and remuneration is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The review of applications will start from December 1 and will continue until January 10, 2014 or until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for the position is July 1, 2014.
