Department of Mathematics
The department of Mathematics was established first as the department of
Basic Science and Humanities in the year 2010. The department of
Mathematics of this Institute has come into existence from summer of 2014
and aims at being a centre of excellence in Mathematics and Computing and is
been vigorously engaged in both research and teaching. The vision of the
department is not only to transform young people to competent and motivated
professionals but also to contribute to the development of the nation, through
research, consultancy and training activities. The department has at present
four energetic and dedicated faculty members.
Having started the Ph.D. programme in 2013, the department has proposed to
commence 2-year M. S. programme in Mathematics and Computing; M. S.
programme in Engineering Mathematics Research and M. S. programme in
Mathematical Physics from 2015. The department also supports the
engineering departments by offering core and advance courses in mathematics
at the undergraduate B. Tech. level in various semesters.
Vision
The Department of Mathematics at NIT, Arunachal Pradesh, since its very inception
in 2010, has strived to be a centre of excellence in the field of Pure and Applied
Mathematics. It has engaged itself in nation building through active teaching, research
and inculcating mathematical temperament.
Mission:
 To maximize the potential of the students for solve problems in the recent field
of Pure and Applied Mathematics.
 To maintain highest standard of teaching and research.
 To help built future technocrats with strong Mathematical foundation.
 To develop the department into the centre of excellence for practical research in
the field of Mathematical modelling applicable to Medicine, Engineering, Arts
and Science.
 To develop the department into hub of business consultant.
