Program details Eligibility: To apply for this course you must be able to participate for credit (in a 2nd or 3rd year free choice elective), be in good academic standing and have completed at least 1 year of tertiary study prior to the program start date (transfer credit from TAFE or other tertiary institutions is acceptable if the study has been credited toward your current degree program). You will need to include with your application a copy of your most recent unofficial transcript and a copy of the personal details page of your current passport. All applications must also be submitted with a 500 word summary demonstrating your motivation to participate in this course. If you are a part-time student you will be considered for participation provided you have completed the equivalent of the full-time study period outlined above. Your application will also be assessed based on your suitability as an ambassador for the IRU Scholars in Asia initiative and on your ability to adapt and function independently in new environments. These points should also be addressed briefly in your motivational summary. As a part of the selection process you may be asked to attend an interview on campus or via Skype. Enrolment: Griffith University will enrol students into the 2026IBA - Vietnam Study Tour by census date, 23 August 2015, which is also the last date to drop the course without being liable for fees. Final payment: Final payment for the program (excluding tuition, see the note on tuition below) is due by Friday 18 September 2015 and must also be paid to Griffith University. Cancellation and refund details are provided below. Tuition: The above fee DOES NOT include tuition. For tuition, this course is classified as a Student Contribution Band 1 and all students are required to pay the Student Contribution Charge and may elect the up-front or deferred option if eligible. IRU Scholars in Asia (Grant): If you are a successful applicant, once you have enrolled you will receive AU$1500 bursary as a selected IRU Scholar in Asia. It is expected that these funds will be paid directly to you by your home university prior to departure. The funds can be used as you wish but are intended to subsidise the costs associated with participating in this program. 2 New Colombo Plan (NCP) Travel Grant: If you are eligible (see below), and have been selected to receive an NCP travel grant, you will be notified, and paid, at the time the IRU Scholars in Asia bursary is paid. These funds can be used as you wish but are intended to subsidise the costs associated with participating in this program. Eligibility and selection for the NCP travel grants: Students must be between the ages of 18-28 Students must be undergraduate, Australian Citizens Students eligible to apply for this additional funding are selected based on academic merit and/or seriousness of purpose as reflected in the student’s statement of motivation, and diversity. Diversity is measured on, but is not limited to, students from regional/remote areas, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, students with disabilities or students from a non-English speaking background. OS-HELP Loans: Non-Griffith students need to apply for an OS-HELP Loan through their home university. For more information about OS-HELP contact your home university or visit the Study Assist website. Refund Policy: If you cancel for any reason, you must notify your home university in writing. The cancellation will be effective upon receipt and acknowledgement of the written notification. Program deposits are non-refundable however special consideration may apply under extenuating circumstances. If you withdraw voluntarily from the program you will receive the following refund on program fees already paid (excluding the non-refundable deposit): Withdrawal more than 60 days prior to program commencement, you will be refunded all recoverable fees paid. Withdrawal between 30 and 60 days prior to departure, you will be refunded 50 per cent of program fees. Withdrawal 29 days or less prior to departure date, no refund will be made. The date of cancellation will be the date that Griffith receives the formal written notification from your home university. Any serious illness or incident that causes you to withdraw must be documented by a registered Doctor and formal written notification must also be sent to your home university for assessment. The assessment will be determined at the sole discretion of your home university and as such the recommendation by the home university of any refund is final. International students: The information provided by you to the University may be made available to Commonwealth and State agencies, pursuant to obligations under the ESOS Act 2000 and the National Code. Universities are required under s19 of the ESOS Act 2000, to tell the Australian Government about: » certain changes to the student’s enrolment; and » any breach by the student of a student visa condition relating to attendance or satisfactory academic performance. Visa restrictions may apply in some host countries for international students participating in an outbound mobility program. It is the student’s responsibility to investigate the visa requirements. Special approval may be based on other considerations, such as participation in mobility programs that may provide increased access to employment opportunities in a student’s country of origin.
