Punctuality – some trips require girls to be at the Girls Inc. center at certain times which could
include earlier hours that normally open. Please be aware of these times on certain dates to
make sure you can commit.
Maturity, respectfulness, and able to communicate well. – Girls will be representing all of Girls
Inc. when out of the center visiting local businesses, volunteering in the community and when
on field trips. We ask that girls who apply feel that they can be respectful, mature and able to
communicate efficiently pertaining to subject matters when representing us.
**Please be aware that this is NOT an intervention program… The Youth Leadership Program is
for girls who already possess excellent leadership skills and choose to use them. If your child is
immature, problematic, unable to communicate respectfully, or is simply uninterested in the
planned activities then we cannot accept her into the YLP program. If this is the case, our regular
summer program may better suit her in guiding her to obtaining and using these skills.
Initial to state that you’ve read and agree to these requirements.

Youth Leadership Program Description
YLP is designed for girls 11-15 who possess excellent leadership skills and want to put them to
good use over the summer. They will use their skills to be active helpers in our community and
to represent Girls Inc. when visiting local places. This program will help prepare girls to seek a
volunteer position within Girls Inc. or other opportunities once they are old enough.
Weekly Schedule:
Monday – Clean, Green Activities
Girls will learn how to make clean, green products from everyday items. These products are
environmentally safe and are non-toxic. This class also teaches budgeting skills as all products
made are cost-effective.
Tuesday – Women at Work
Girls will visit local places or have local working women visit them to talk about what they do
for work, why they chose the work that they do and the obstacles they may face as a woman
working in the field that they are in.
Wednesday – Community Awareness
Girls will reach out the community to volunteer in local places as needed. This will give girls job
training skills and can be an excellent resume input.
Thursday – Operation SMART
Op SMART is a Girls Inc. National Program that focuses on science and technology. Girls will be
conducting their own experiments, such as growing their own crystals and making invisible ink,
and then engaging in discussions on their projects.
Friday – Field Trip Day
This one is just for fun! Since the girls will be volunteering, representing Girls Inc. and
participating in educational classes, we would like to give them a little treat at the end of the
week. (please note that on our last week of summer programing, our YLP field trip day will be on
WEDNESDAY instead of Friday)
Daily:
When not engaged in these specific activities, the girls will be participating in team building
games, daily physical and nutritional education, and practicing a group talent for our 7 th week
talent show.
