What is Girls on the Run®?
Girls on the Run is a life-changing, experiential learning program for 3rd
through 5th grade girls that culminates with a 5K Community Celebration.
We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experiencebased curriculum which creatively integrates running.
The goals of the program are to encourage positive emotional, social,
mental, and physical development.
Be a Girl on the Run!
The Girls on the Run spring season begins the week of Feb 29th,
2016 (ends mid May). The culmination of the 10 week program is
the Celebratory United Way of Southwest Michigan Girls on the
Run 5K. The 5K Celebration will take place on May 19th, 2016.
The Girls on the Run team will meet:
Monday/Wednesday Group or Tuesday/Thursday Group
4:00-5:30 pm at Lincoln School
Contact Mrs. Birmele or Lincoln if online registration is a problem.
Registration Fee: $60 (financial need scholarships are available)
Each participant receives:
 New pair of New Balance running shoes
 Girls on the Run T-Shirt and 5K Event T-Shirt
 Girls on the Run Water Bottle
 20 after-school sessions with healthy snacks
 All program supplies and curriculum
 Girls on the Run 5K Medal
This unique program also provides:
 Relationships with positive adult role models
 Increased self-esteem and self-worth
 Enhanced emotional and physical health
 Improved peer relations
 A new connection to the community
 Research-based curriculum presented by trained facilitators
 New friendships that can last a lifetime
