Gynecology (妇科)
Introduction（综述）
Gynecology is one of the key departments of our hospital. Each year the department has over
2000 hospitalized patients and over 60,000 outpatients, more than 1000 cases of laparoscopy
surgery, and more than 4000 cases of birth control procedures. It provides medical services for all
kinds of gynecological diseases and birth control, focusing on minimally invasive techniques (90%
of surgeries are minimally invasive).
Medical Staff
（人员构成）
There is a medical staff of 31, including 16 physicians and 15 nurses. Among the physicians, 3
are chief physician/professors, 4 associated chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, and 4
resident physicians. Two of them are also doctoral advisors, one a master’s advisor, one has a
Ph.D., one nine have master’s degrees. Among the nurses, two have nursing bachelor’s degrees.
The medical team in gynecology is very well organized and has a logical division of echelons.
Environment and Medical Equipment

There gynecology department consists of an outpatient clinic, clinical operating rooms (abortion
room, colposcopy room) and a ward with 40 beds. There are twelve triple rooms, two family units,
and a postoperative observation room. The ward has a comfortable atmosphere, and the rooms
are equipped with color TV and private bathrooms.
A variety of medical equipment and procedures are used, such as state-of-the-art colposcopy,
hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, B ultrasound, physiological monitors, LEEP knife, ultrasonic scalpel,
and blood circulation drives. With this modern equipment the gynecology department can
scientifically and accurately detect and treat of variety of gynecological diseases.

Treatment of a variety of gynecological diseases and birth control, such as medication and
painless abortion, hysteroscopy, TCT, colposcopy, LEEP, reconstructive pelvic surgery, general and
laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery for benign and malignant tumors, and gynecological
endocrine diseases (such as dysfunctional uterine bleeding, amenorrhea, infertility, and
menopause-related diseases).

invasive and recovery times are relatively quick, with very careful wound treatment to
prevent scars and changes in appearance.
Screening, diagnosis, and treatment of cervical diseases such as HPV, BV, and TCT. The
department has developed a standardized procedure for diagnosis of CIN. Other diseases
include cervical ectropio, cervical hypotrophy, cervical polyp, myoma, and precancerous
lesions.

Dr. Guo-lan Gao graduated from West China University of Medical Science in 1984, She received
Master Degrees and PhD in Gynecology and Obstetrics in 1997 .She has 30 years of professional
experience as an obstetrician and gynecologist, having held clinical, academic, and administrative
positions.

Dr.Gao has extensive experience in general obstetrics and gynecology, In 2013 and 2014,
President Gao successfully operated the first SMA C-section in Asia and the C-section for the
paralyzed athlete Sang Lan, the former world-class Chinese gymnast.

Dr.Gao specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of gynecological benign and malignant tumors,
gynecological inflammation and endocrine diseases with minimally invasive techniques,
especially for the laparoscopic surgery for large fibroids, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, cervical
cancer and endometrial cancer.
