IHPA’s mission is to promote improved efficiency in, and access to, public hospital services through setting the national price and levels of block funding for hospital services. About the role This position reports to the Director, Mental Health Care and is responsible for supporting the program of work allocated to the Mental Health Care section. The section is responsible for the following areas: Ongoing development and maintenance of the Australian Mental Health Care classification through one-off projects and studies. Agendas and preparation of papers for the Mental Health Working Group and the Mental Health Care Expert Reference Group (excluding secretariat functions). Development of the mental health data set specifications / National Minimum Data Sets, (with appropriate guidance from the Senior Manager, Classification and Coding Standards). Preparation of mental health related papers for governance bodies including National Health Information Standards and Statistics Committee and the Standing Council on Health. Support the IHPA CEO in management of stakeholders in the mental health sector. Provide mental health specific input to IHPA policy and communication documents. About you The successful candidate will have: An understanding of the health reform agenda and the role of activity based funding in relation to mental health care. Strong interpersonal and leadership qualities and stakeholder management skills. An understanding of Commonwealth procurement processes, including proven project management and contract management skills. Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills. Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Qualifications in health management, project management, health information, health economics or other relevant qualification will be an advantage.
