The weather conditions in White City this past week have been unusual for this time of
year. The temperatures have been all over the place due to the cold front that came in Sunday.
Friday October 24th, 2014 was partly cloudy starting with a low of 44°F and warming up
to an unusual high of 79°F by 4:05 pm; which is way above the average of 61°F. This brought the
temperature on Saturday from 79°F (way above the average of 60°F) to 68°F on Sunday (still
way above the average temp of 59°F) and finally bottoming out at 52°F on Monday (which is 6
degrees lower than the average of 58°F). Also, the lower pressure on Saturday likely contributed
to the cool off and assisted in more cloud formations. The wind was accompanied with some
scattered showers on Monday, October 27th bringing the humidity level up considerably higher
than the 47% October average.

Most days were cloudy and the temps varied from the low 50’s to the highest temperature
of 79 degrees on Friday the 24th. The sky was cloudy, but the air felt crisp and clean. Last year
around this same time, the average temperature was between 50 and 60 degrees and it had
already snowed 0.10 inches. Seeing the comparison from last year to this year, it has been a wet
summer.
The current weather conditions for October 28, 2014, are 56 degrees and 26 % humidity
accompanied with blue skies and lots of sunshine. The forecast for Sandy over the next week
should be scattered clouds; however, the temps will continue to climb back up to 72 degrees and
22% humidity on Halloween! Sadly, it does look like that will be our last nice day as a cold front
moves in November 1st. This will bring the temp down to 64 degrees and even lower on
November 2nd with a high of 46 degrees and 68% humidity. This weather is a better reflection of
Utah’s standard October/November weather.
How it all this works together is that temperature variations create pressure differences.
These pressure gradients cause winds. Winds cause the movement of air and help to create low
pressure. Winds in the low pressure areas cause the rising air to condense the humidity in the air
into clouds which than releases the heat from condensation, which causes more temperature
variances. After hours of research, all these processes work together, apparently, in a very
complicated system.
