Maintaining Health, Minimizing Illness Adult Horse Wellness Program The Equine Wellness Program is important for the overall well-being of your horse; it is designed to provide you with the peace of mind that comes with knowing that your horse(s) are receiving the best possible preventive health care. Regularly scheduled vaccinations, deworming and dental care, along with good nutrition and regular exercise, will help keep your horse healthy, happy and improve performance. For optimum preventative care, we offer 2 program levels. Both plans offer a 20% savings when compared with the cost of services provided individually. Benefits Preventative care and regular examinations will help identify health issues before they become serious problems. Horses enrolled in the wellness program can benefit from: Wellness Consult/Exam: A thorough physical exam to assess overall body condition and health. Includes examining eyes, ears, teeth, and auscultation of the heart, lungs and abdomen. Exam of skin and other areas as deemed necessary. Fecal Exam: Microscopic exam of the horse's manure for intestinal parasites. Nutritional Consultation: Receive guidance on proper nutrition and deworming. Chem Panel & CBC: A Chem Panel measures enzyme and electrolyte levels to evaluate organ function (i.e. kidneys, liver, muscle). CBC stands for complete blood count, which checks both red and white blood cell levels to identify anemia, infectious processes and other blood cell disorders. Added Value $500 Colic Benefit Program: In the event your horse undergoes colic surgery at Retama Equine Hospital, REH will contribute $500 towards the surgical invoice for this procedure for the horse enrolled in the wellness program during the period of active participation. Program Details Wellness programs must be paid for in full when horse is enrolled. Accounts must be in good standing when purchasing wellness programs. If an enrolled horse dies or is sold while participating in the wellness program, prorated credit will be given, or you may transfer the prorated level to another horse. If all the services offered in your program are not utilized within the enrollment term, there is no credit, substitution or carryover to the following year. If your horse has never been vaccinated, additional vaccine boosters are needed and will incur additional charges. Clients are responsible for scheduling wellness program appointments.
