Coming from war torn Afghanistan to Australia to chase their soccer dreams and run away to a better life. Jamal and Bibi face pirates, landmines, tanks and the endless void of the ocean. Join Jamal and Bibi in their extraordinary journey fighting for their lives to get to their dream land. I really liked the passion and persistence of the characters that infused me with their great story. Almost every second of the book is a struggle for a life and my heart was thumping through the whole way. The book also states approximately the life you would have in Afghanistan. I could feel the fear and hope with the Author’s writing. It especially thrilled me when the book told me the story of their great voyage across the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean. But there is one thing that shocked me at the end. It just left me hanging and waiting. But the book left it at there, and that was the total disappointment of the book for me. I would recommend the book for ages about 7+ for my opinion because in the book it states the life of the characters in Afghanistan and I think that a few parts are a little frightening with too much immense action. This book would slot perfectly in the adventure genre. Jamal is an outrageously good soccer player in his own mind. Jamal fears most of the time that Bibi is in danger. He cares for her a lot, like it was his duty to protect her. But sometimes Jamal protects her too much which leads to further problems. Over all Jamal is a normal kid with a tough little sister. Bibi is not what you would have for an ordinary sister. She’s tougher than normal and is barely afraid of anything. Bibi also likes the use of words like “Camel snot” and “Donkey boogers”. She is also difficult to control at times. Over all, Bibi is more than the ordinary sister. After all that, I would rate this spectacular book, a ridiculous 8 out of 10. So Join Jamal and Bibi on their journey through their life, where there is always a fear, of what comes next.
