This specification includes the supply, installation, commissioning, testing and certification for Zonecheck. It shall include, but not be limited to the manifold, valves, flow-switch, circulating pump, and key-switch. The remote flow-switch testing device shall comply with requirements of BS EN12845 with regard to water flow alarm tests and the requirements of the AHJ, except where modified and supplemented by this specification. The remote flow-switch testing device shall be manufactured by an ISO 9001 certified company and meet the requirements of ISO 9001. The remote flow-switch testing device and peripheral devices shall be manufactured and supplied by Project Fire Products Ltd. The device and its components shall be factory tested and approved by LPCB and listed in the LPCB ‘Red book’ - List of approved fire and security products and services. The remote flow switch testing device shall be installed such that compliance with the Project Fire listing is not compromised. The installing company shall employ suitably qualified fitters and licensed electricians (where required) on site to ensure the systems integrity. All trademarks and patents must be acknowledged. All patents must be complied with and the employer must be held harmless for any patent or trademark infringement. B. C. D. E. F. G. 1.2 Scope A new Project Fire remote flow switch testing device, namely Zonecheck®, shall be installed in accordance with the project specifications and drawings. 1.2.1 As part of the sustainable strategy for fire protection we have determined that Zonecheck Live shall be fitted to all existing flow-switches where Zonecheck is not already installed. All flow-switch testing shall be completed using Zonecheck in accordance with BS EN12845:2009. 1.2.2 Basic Performance Operation of the key-switch starts the pump to circulate water around the flow-switch at a pressure equal to one sprinkler head in operation (with the correct Zonecheck ® orifice plate pre-installed). Flow-switch operation signal to be transmitted back to the key-switch indicated by illuminated ‘WATER FLOW’ L.E.D. Basic System Functional Operation 1. 2. 1.3 Water-flow alarm self-tests to be carried out remotely via the key-switch. Water-flow alarm group test to be carried out remotely via the key-switch for up to 20 interconnected key-switches. Pre-installation design General 1. 2. Two copies of all proposed designs shall be submitted to the principle engineer for review. All references to manufacturer's model numbers and other pertinent information herein is intended to establish minimum standards of performance, function and quality, or equal and LPCB approved. Shop Drawings 1. 2. Shall contain sufficient information and be clearly presented to be included to determine compliance with drawings and specifications. Shall include manufacturer's name(s), model numbers, ratings, power requirements, equipment layout, device arrangement, complete co-ordinated wiring routes fully dimensioned layout. Instruction Booklets: 1. 2. 3. 4. Shall be submitted simultaneously with the shop drawings, complete operating and maintenance manuals listing the manufacturer's name(s), including technical data sheets. Wiring diagrams shall indicate internal wiring for each device and the interconnections between the items of equipment. Shall provide a clear and concise description of operation that gives, in detail, the information required to properly operate the equipment and system. Operation and maintenance manuals shall include decommissioning instructions. 1.4 Warranty The tender shall include a 3 year material warranty and a one year labour warranty. 1.5 Applicable Standards and Specifications The specifications and standards listed below form a part of this specification. The system shall fully comply with the latest issue of these standards, where applicable: A. B. 1.6 BS EN12845 All requirements of the AHJ Approvals The remote flow-switch testing device shall have proper LPCB listing approval. 1.7 Project information All brand names and I.P. patents shall be utilised within the project information provided and full I.P. acknowledgement and patent numbers shall be included in all documentation produced: EU Patent -0907833 UK Trademark- 2126582 2.0 2.1 Products Equipment and Material, General: A. B. C. D 2.2 The remote flow switch test device shall be Zonecheck®. All equipment and components shall be new, and the manufacturers current model. The materials, appliances, equipment and devices shall be tested and approved by LPCB and listed in the LPCB ‘Red book’ - List of approved fire and security products and services. All equipment and components shall be installed in strict compliance with manufacturer’s recommendations and shall require written approval of the proposed modifications by the principle engineer prior to commencement of site works. All key-switch locations shall be included on the proposed drawing and approved prior to installation by the principle engineer. All Zonechecks® shall be fitted by suitably qualified trade installation companies to meet the requirements set by the AHJ. Manifold 1. 2. 3. 4. Manifold to be medium weight (MW) - BS EN 10255. Manifolds to be provided in 50-150 mm (2“-6”) diameters. Manifolds to be a maximum of 450 mm in length (end to end distance). Manifolds to standard roll grooved specification. 2.3 Flow-switch 1 x System Sensor WFDE Vane-type water flow detector 2.4 Product range definitions Zonecheck®450 Zonecheck® is factory assembled and tested complete with rolled ends. Zonecheck® Pre-wired A factory wired and tested Zonecheck® for easier site installation and reduced installation costs. Zonecheck® Addressable Zonecheck® Addressable has been developed to incorporate a single addressable loop of cable to interconnect with a central controller. Zonecheck® Live Zonecheck® Live has been engineered to simplify the retro-fitting of Zonecheck® to an existing flow-switch without the need to drain down. 3.0 3.1. Execution Installation A. 3.2 Installation shall be in accordance with your applicable code standard (i.e. BS EN12845), as shown on the drawings, and as recommended by the manufacturer (see product instruction booklet). Commissioning Commission Zonecheck as recommended by the manufacturer’s instruction booklet. 3.3 Test 3.3.1 All water flow alarm testing shall be in accordance with your applicable code standard. 3.3.2 To test a single Zonecheck® unit, turn the key to “SELF TEST”. To test all the Zonecheck® in the group, turn the key to “GROUP TEST”. 3.3.3 Testing initiation is indicated by a green light marked pump. 3.3.4 When the flow-switch activates, a green light marked water-flow will give an additional signal. 3.3.5 The key can only be removed in the “STANDBY” position. 3.3.6 The “STANDBY” mode will not give any false alarms when fitted in conjunction with an approved water flow alarm device. 3.4 O&M Manual The contractor shall provide two sets of manuals (one hard copy and one digital version) that contain brochures, data sheets, operational manuals, technical manuals and programming manuals (where applicable) for all products that form part of this installation.
